The general idea with this was that your opponent's bench was never safe. Infernape had a built in circulator and a nasty spread attack. Luxray's Bright Look obviously contributed to this concept.

The Ninetales was used as a Mewtwo Lv. X counter.

Kyle has stated several times that the Rayquaza/Stark Mountain combination was probably not worth the space. A suggested fix would be as follows:

    - 1 Rayquaza
    - 2 Stark Mountain

    +1 Power Spray
    + 1 Roserade GL
    + 1 Aaron's Collection

    Cynthia's Feelings was another option.

What did Lucario GL do for this deck at the time? I guess post-worlds it was smart because of Beedrill, but it wasn't good until Silvestro played it at Worlds. Gyarados wasn't a thing until 2010, right?

Gyarados won French Nationals in 2009 but no-one really noticed it until it turned up at Worlds that year. Silvestro wasn't the only one playing Beedrill.

Uxie X + Bat one shot Machamp SF with Lucario in play, and there were a few other cards that it helped against (Kingdra, Nidoqueen).
