Adjusting from week one to week two of States is a nuanced thing: if you did not do as well as you would have hoped the first go-around, then you’re stuck in a situation where you only have a short window of time to make amends.
In seasons past, I’ve been all over the board, sometimes making a huge competency jump between the two events, and sometimes dipping significantly (examples: improving from 6th to 1st in 2008, and from 1st to 9th in 2005).
With Oklahoma in the books, I was primed to do better than the 5-2 bubble of that tournament; I had learned from my past miscalculations. Texas States is a title I haven’t held since 2008, so I was eager to reclaim it.
