Hey guys. This is going to be my second Battle Road report for the autumn season. I have participated in five this season, but I have only written a report on my first one, where I didn’t do very well. My record there was 2-3. The next three events a had the same record of 3-2 for each one. I ran Gengar C for those and that’s exactly what I ran on Sunday.
When I first started playing competitively I played Jumpluff for a while so I was used to playing fast Stage 2 decks, and after that I ran SP for only god knows how long haha. So I felt really comfortable playing this deck. If you don’t know the basics of the deck, it’s basically take cheap and fast prizes with Shadow Room paired with Flash Bites on pixies and benched Smeargles, Fainting Spell, and of course Dragon Rush. Now that’s enough for the intro. Let’s get to the report.
Round 1: Drew playing Luxchomp with Umbreon tech
Now when I first saw I was paired with him I was nervous because he demolished me the day before with Vilegar. Thank god he wasn’t playing that today. Before we started he admitted that he rarely ever plays SP. Early game I took the lead but taking a few prizes until he was able to Portrait using the Bebe’s Search in my hand allowing him to get a Uxie and Set Up for nearly a full hand. That led to him taking a few prizes and I was getting nervous.
I saw him bench an Eevee and next turn Evolve into Umbreon so on my turn I Flash Bit it and proceeded to Dragon Rush it. The game ended shortly after with me as the winner.

Round 2: Joseph playing Luxchomp
This round didn’t go so well. He took the lead and I started catching up by taking to prizes with Dragonite FB and Shadow Rooming a Bronzong G that had for counters on it. In the end he took the game. It was close, but he’s a pretty good player.

Round 3: Joe playing Charizard
The game started out in my favor, but taking out one Quilava before he could evolve into Typhlosion. The most he was able to do was get out one Charizard, but it couldn’t do any damage because I sniped most of his bench. After taking out his Charizard he couldn’t recover and I took the game.

Round 4: (Total blank on name) playing Chenlock
I really don’t remember a lot about this game except for that he started with Sableye and for the fist two turns Impersonating for Cyrus’s Initiatives flipping a ton of heads and messing my set up bad. I was able to top deck a Uxie and Set Up drawing into Dragonite FB, Energy Gain and DCE which I then proceeded to bench and load, taking out his Blaziken FB LV.X with Mach Blow because he used Jet Shoot the turn before, so my attacks did 40 more. After that I was able to come back and win the game.

Round 5: Anthony playing an SP variant
His deck was a lot like Luxchomp minus the Luxray and included Toxicroak G (non promo) and Roserade GL. He took a few early prizes by locking my active with Rosearde and KO’ing them with Toxicroak. Unfortunately for him he didn’t draw into any DCE giving me the advantage and I walked away with that game.

Top cuts were announced and I made it. This was my first time topping so I was somewhat nervous. Pairings are called and I’m paired with Anthony again.
Game 1:
He gets the early lock on my Gastly with Roserade, so I just keep Pitch Darking to lock him from using trainers while trying to set up Garchomp C. In this game he draws into multiple DCE and I knew I wouldn’t win this so I just Pitch Darked for most of the game but he won.
Game 2:
Pretty much the same. He is a very good player and I was just happy to be in top cut… which I know isn’t very impressive for just a Battle Roads lol. He took game 2 as well and went on to take first.
I ended the day in 3rd place which I’m happy with seeing as how this was my first time topping. Keep in mind that I’ve only been playing 4-5 months now so I haven’t competed in much; just Battle Roads and Prereleases.
Props:
-Topping for the first time.
-Anthony for placing first but losing to me in round five to allow me to make top cuts.
-Taco Bell for being cheap and filling enough.
-Trading Arceus cards to the organizer for booster packs and pulling 2 reverse holo Weavile lines. (I love that card.)
Slops:
Really didn’t have any. It was over all a pretty good today. I guess the only considered slop would be being so tired the next day that I left school early, came home and slept for most of the day into the next morning… I don’t consider that much of a slop though. :)
