Congrats on going undefeated especially on your first pokemon tournament that's awesome!

Pretty interesting list, you ran it well, and shipped the tourney. Awesome!

Nice job man! Seems like you're somebody who's got experience and knows what they're doing. Even though you're a greenhorn to Pokemon, I know I'd be wary of playing against you in a tournament.

Best of luck in the future. :)

dude awesome….i wish i could play donphan in my area, but everyone and their grandmas play kingdra and gyarados

  • Fresko21

Sucks. Donphan prob shouldnt see a whole lot of play, at least from smart players, even after rotation. Gyarados leaves, but Kingdra and Jumpluff stay. Kingdra is autoloss, and Jumpluff is an extremely uphill battle. I love this deck, but I doubt you will see me play it outside of Battle Roads. Unfortunately it's the only deck I can build that I enjoy. I have all the stuff for Shuppet, which is crazy fun, I just dont think I could play it at a tourney. I can build LuxChomp, but Im not a fan of how it plays. Im prob going to try and get Gengar put together soon, I really like how it looks, and I love Gengar.

It kind of makes me mad that the environment is as fast as it is. I actually looked at Pokemon in 2007, and did buy a deck, Flariados, and I loved it. The new Leafeon that hasnt been printed in america yet has a huge “+XX dmg per special condition” attack, and there's a Magmortar that does what Flareon ex did. I was stoked, and my roommate and I tested it. Terrible, just an awful deck for how fast the game is compared to 3 yrs ago.

Yeah thats a pretty good run for your first tournament, excellent work man.

It's good to see Donphan did well and with Luxray, you stand a decent change against waters decks.

  • Denjin Hadou

Nice to see you pull through with Raydon

  • Walrus

Couldn't you just tech in a fire type pokemon to make Kingdra a beatable deck?

  • Fresko21

With 3 bad matchups being 3 of the decks I see being more popular, Id rather just not play the deck in general than have to make it less consistent by adding in something Id rather not have in it. If the deck doesnt fit in the environment right now, I wont force it.

  • Walrus

I was talking about after the rotation. Your two bad matchups would still be Kingdra and Jumpluff, however if you put in a worthwhile fire pokemon, you will have Kingdra only doing 20 damage instead of 60 and Jumpluff will be X2 weak to it. I'd say your giving very little credit to a deck that took you to the finals.

  • Fresko21

Maybe one will pop up that Id prefer using over Luxray, but I cant really think of any worthwhile off the top of my head. Only one I can think of would be Blaziken, and he wont last long against Pluff. He'd be fine against Kingdra since he would take 40 after weakness, letting him go a possible 3 turns, and Vapor Kick would be good against Kingdra. It's all speculation right now since there will be 2 more sets until it really matters when looking at post rotation decks.
