Is there a big reason that nobody is leaving deck lists with there reports.
Also not only does it look like you net-decked the build that has been winning the most but look at the match-ups. You didnt even play the mirror match.
So, congrats on the win i guess.

    • Mach

I didn’t leave a list because if I gave a list, I would want to explain it. That’s called a strategy article, not a tournament report. I don’t think that my list is generic, anyway, because apparently people are using Expert Belt for some reason, with Snowpoint Temple instead of Galactic HQ. I also didn’t run any SP techs besides a Crobat G, Bronzong G, and Lucario GL.

I had just been wanting to test Dialga for a while, and I never really got around to it. It’s extremely insulting that you’re suggesting that I net-decked. I just built an archetype.

      • jesus69

Idk says cities report if you ask me.
Ther are two ways to build sp right now
        Dialga or blazekin.
and Expert belt with snow point is the best way to run the deck.why run Hq. if you run into the mirror match it a dead card in your deck.
And dont give me that.Im insulted!
If you net-deck an idea it just means you didnt come up with it first so get off your high horse and suck it up.

      • Mach

Well, in the interest of not starting a flame war, I’m sorry you feel that I net-decked. It wasn’t my intention to make it come across that way if I had suggested it in any way.

      • dillz

Ther are two ways to build sp right now Dialga or blazekin.

you either see things being played at a tournament, see them online, or invent them (or innovations / variants of something) yourself

u cant say this, and then tell people they net-deck. unless of course you played and won with Dialga and Blazekin first and people copied you.

      • jesus69

Mach- Im really not interested in gettin into an argument either.
dillz-Yes, I can say this.If you play with a list or idea that was already put together you have net-decked.
It isnt like it is a bad thing to do. It is the easiest way to play games.Play the deck that does well and it has.
The two best SP decks are Blazeray and Dialga tank. The only two that have won anything.
I think you people need to learn the terms of card games before you lose it for the wrong reason.

      • yoyofsho16

Snowpoint is a dead card in the mirror, too. You certainly don’t want to be giving your opponent that benefit.

      • Aoi Hoshihiro-Stroup

To be honest, I think the Skuntank G-Stadium thing is extremely situational, I used it at my first CC’s, and it did nothing but become dead cards in my deck because there was so much SP.
Against SP, everything becomes neutralized basically, if you gain +20 HP from Snowpoint, so does your opponent.
Galactic HQ becomes deader than dead.
The only one I consider playing if I do decide on doing the Poison Structure thing, is Conductive Quarry to retrieve special metals back into my hand which is more selfish and guarantees more usefulness for myself than my opponent, unless it’s the mirror. =/

      • Spadeace/Chan

I don’t know how adding a deck list turns a tournament report into a strategy article, because its not theories anymore when there are actual results to back them up. Net-decking and building an archetype is practically arguing that ketchup and catsup are different things. If you know the support, its easy to fill the gaps. If anybody tries to claim they got creative with an SP deck, I definitely call bullshit because regardless of variety SP decks are almost always at least 60% identical.

      • Mach

You didn’t read what I said. I said I’d want to explain my list, and that would turn it into a strategy article. Give a list, and someone complains about how bad it is. Therefore, I don’t write strategy articles. To be honest, I think the ones that are complaining about the lack of a list are the ones who net-deck.

I have a problem with your definition of net-decking. See, if your definition is correct, then every deck that isn’t some random rogue is net-decked. However, when someone does built that random rogue and does badly with it, I bet people who spout that definition are the first ones saying “Kingdra/Gengar/Luxape does this better”.

Going on your claim that SP decks require no creativity, lets look at percentages for metagame decks as a whole. You have 4 Bebe’s, 4 Roseanne’s, 4 Rare Candy, a Luxury Ball, a Uxie, and a 2-2 Claydol line. That’s 18 cards there, not even including stuff that are still considered techs like Warp Point and Call Energy, and standard draw supporters like Cynthia’s Feelings. 18 cards comes out to be 30 % of your deck. Subtract the Rare Candy and 2 Bebe’s and add in the SP engine (4 Energy Gain, 4 PokeTurn, 3 SP Radar, 4 Power Spray, and 4 Cyrus with 2 in some combination of Galactic HQ/Snowpoint/Champion’s Room) along with the single Crobat G that almost all SP’s are sure to run and you have 34. Which is 57% of the deck. I guess if you think about it that way, sure, they require no creativity. How about you pick some random list up off ‘Gym or somewhere and see how many X-1′s it gets you at tournaments? I mean, they’re all the same, right?

Building a deck based on a concept you’ve heard of is different from net-decking. Net-decking generally means when one builds a list that you see online and run it card-for-card, or with very little variation. Given that I had never even seen a Dialga/Garchomp list before I ran it, that seems unlikely, no?

  • jesus69

Hah, last weekend I was 2nd in line for registration, and then when they called next, I went to the table, was midway into handing them my list, and then for whatever reason I said “Hold on…” left the line, and built a Blazeray list off the top of my head and turned it in instead.

    I got 2nd. Haha.

I think you did an awesome job man, it’s tough to play a deck without any prior experience with it.

And there is nothing wrong with playing the deck that is dominating at the moment…that’s what I would do if I was trying to win.

    • Mach

Thanks, I really wasn’t confident in the list. I figured I’d just consider it playtesting and hope it didn’t hurt my rating too much.

Yeah, congrats on the win! No shame in playing the best deck you can throw together. I play tier one decks all the time and pull ideas from anywhere I can. Sure I’ll play a rogue deck if I feel it counters the meta well, but hey we all play this game because its fun and winning is even more fun, right? Props on a good win and a good article.

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to ask. While you were playing is there anything other than maxing out the E-gains that you felt was an oversight in your list that in retrospect would have helped?

    • Mach

I think I could’ve cut some Energy. 9-11 seems like a good number, and I was running 12.

Do you find that 11 energy is enough? I usually run big hitting stage 2 decks, I just like knowing I can take a prize each turn, but have never run less than 14 energy in a deck. Do you draw into them consistently or do you need to hit a rosy or cyrus? My one buddy is working on a list for these two and has trouble with energy drops 1/3 games. I’ve avoided SP’s to this point, but they definitely have their merits.

Lol dont listen to these kids parroting what they have obviously heard from people who haven’t even tested the deck and just base their assumptions off of random conjectures. Snowpoint definitely isn’t NECESSARY (but can obv be used) and becomes a liability in multiple match-ups. Quarry, GQ, and Tower are all usually better in its place.

For a 52 card deck, 7 shuffles gets the cards most randomized.

60 cards is pretty close to 52, so I always try to shuffle 7 times then cut my deck, sometimes 8 times, not much of a difference. I guess pile shuffling works, too.

Then again, any 7 card hand should be just as random as any other. It just so happens we don’t like the ones with 3 Energy Gains, so it happens to be “unlucky” ;)

What’s with everyone getting so defensive in this article?

Dialga G/Garchomp C is a heck of a lot less common than BlazeRay. Playing the best cards in the meta-game is obviously a legitimate strategy rather than just folding by coming up with less consistent rogue decks. (Which happens more often than some one person revolutionizing the meta-game).

They may offer a free upgrade depending on the unit and when it was purchased. As far as which one I would prefer, I would go with the Nuvi. I believe that the OS is about the same on both, but the Nuvi is smaller if you decide that you want to use it out of the car.
