Well this year has been an interesting one to say the least. I really did not plan on going to Regionals until I found out that a store would be there buying commons/uncommons for 3 cents a piece. So I decided to count up all my cards and take them with us. This is my last tournament or now, and I really have enjoyed the time spent playing and the people I have met along the way.
Anyways my group got up at 5 a.m. so we could make it to the venue in St. Louis. We get there right as registration really starts happening and I feel pretty confident about my Donphan list. I get registered sell my cards and then it is a waiting game until the first round. (I also entered the art contest and won YAY!! hehe) **also if I forgot your name I am sorry I am awful with names please let me know thanks!**

So here is my report for what was to be a good run with an unlikely candidate.
Round 1-Not sure of his name-(Scizor Cherrim)
He is a newer player to the game and is playing Scizor Cherrim. I get off to a rampant start and really did not look back. He was a nice guy but it just wasn’t close. GG

Round 2-Alan(sorry if I misspelled it)-Luxchomp/Dialga tech
His start is pretty good against my mediocre one. He takes a few prizes and goes up like 2 maybe even 3 prizes. At this point I was kind of flustered because I really didn’t want to lose to the deck mine was designed to beat. Well I get set up and get a Donphan with 3 energies on it and a Belt. At one point he promotes Dialga and levels up so I can’t one shot him. Luckily I have a PlusPower in hand and return the k.o. From there he was unfortunate because he ran out of energies. I then took it home from there. GG

Round 3-Tim-Shuppet
I started with a Uxie and yet again for the 3rd time today I go first. I draw Phanpy and bench him, attach the energy, and pass. He gets a Belt and a PlusPower and Fades Out for knock out on Uxie. I promote Phanpy and evolve into Donphan attach Expert Belt and hit a Reversal to bring up his Slowpoke. I attach another energy and knock out his Slowpoke. From there on I really had control of the game, and I hit all 4 Reversals so that really helped. He did knock out a Donphan but I recovered and hit my last Reversal for game. GG

Round 4-Can’t remember name-T-Tar
I got excited to see Larvitar because as you all know T-tar is weak to fighting. Anyways to start this game off he forgot to put out his prizes so I got a prize for that and then from there I went to town with Donphan. I hit some Reversals and really just ran through T-tar. He finally got a T-tar out with a Belt and five energies out but could not k.o. my Donphan, so I don’t even lose a Donphan the entire game. GG

Round 5-Jake-Dialga/chomp
Well unfortunately I missed two Reversals early game to bring his Garchomp C active and from there it wasn’t really close. I would always come up 10 short of knocking things out and Skuntank G did some work on my Donphan. GG

Round 6-Jeff-Garchomp SV/Queen/Dusknoir
This game started out as not the greatest. Yet again I manage to lose the coin flip and get to go 1st. I attach and pass with my Phanpy. He attaches Call to Gible and before calling he plays Lookers, sees that I have no supporters and he shuffles, (thank goodness hehe). He Calls and ends his turn. I draw and it makes me happy, the second Drawer I need for 2 and I am in the driver’s seat now. I play Pokedex and draw into an Expert Belt.
I then attach it to Phanpy as well as another energy and play double Drawer for Donphan and Uxie. This turn was a great one and I just used Donphan to run though him. Luckily he could really never do much the entire game because I crippled him so early on. GG

Before round 7 I realize that I pretty much have to win this round because my resistance is not the greatest.
Round 7-Lance-Lux/Chomp
I start first again (big shocker!) and attach to Phanpy and pass. He starts with Uxie looks at me and attaches a Double Colorless and says Psychic Restore. At this point I am smiling because I have fighting, Belt, and Bebe’s in hand for the turn two donk! GG (He tops too so he doesn’t mind losing to a friend.)

So I know I have top cut and feel pretty good about my chances. There are some Palkia lock decks in top cut and one Gyarados. Other than that it doesn’t look to bad. I just wait until I find out who my top 16 opponent is.
I find out that I am the 7 seed going in and have to play against Michael who is a close friend of mine. He is playing his Gengar C deck that he won one states with and took 4th in another.
Top 16-Michael-Gengar C(Gengar/Garchomp C)
Game 1
This game is a weird one and I really don’t want to drop Uxies unless I absolutely have to. I Reversal up his Gastly early game and really try to avoid Gengar because I know that is something that should be avoided at all cost against Donphan. Prize trading goes back and forth, and he does k.o. two Uxies and I have a slight advantage in prizes with a Donphan active with a belt and three energies attached.
He has an active Gengar and I look at him, muttered something about sometimes you have to get lucky to win, and I used Heavy impact. He flips for Fainting Spell and misses and I am super pumped GG.

Game 2
Reversal plays a key role in this one as I have to do what I can to take quick easy prizes and keep him from setting up. Again I am up 2 prizes to 1 and I attack his Gengar to knock it out. He flips for Fainting Spell and hits tails yet again. At this point I am up 2-1 in prizes and I know that I am going to top 4! He promotes Uxie and levels up. Attaches Double Colorless energy and thinks about his options for a while trying to get another Gengar out, but cannot draw into the needed cards. He then attacks with Uxie, and I then attack Uxie with Heavy Impact for the game. GG

Top 8-Jesse-Gengar/Spiritomb
Game 1
I know his list is list doesn’t run Mime so I feel pretty confident about this match-up. I get an early Donphan and start wrecking havoc with it. I hit some Reversals and take easy prizes while playing around his active Fainting Spell Gengar. I look at his board and am up 4-6 in prizes an realize he has no way to recover if I knock out his active Gengar (no energy on the field).
So yet again I drop two plus powers and Heavy Impact his Gengar. He flips for Fainting Spell and misses! He then says if he can’t get a Gengar SF out that he will scoop and go to Game 2. He doesn’t and so I take game one within 15 minutes. GG

Game 2
I go first and I start with Relicanth for the second strait game. He starts with Baltoy and does not seem to like his hand. I attached to Relicanth and pass. He attaches a psychic to Baltoy attaches Expert Belt and attacks for 30. I top deck Phanpy, but I have Roseanne’s in my hand, and proceed to drop Broken Time-Space and play Phanpy, Donphan from my hand, Roseanne’s for energy and drop the PlusPower onto Donphan and take Game 2 that fast. GG (sorry about the donk man)

Top 4-Steven-Blaziken FB/Garchomp C
Game 1
I go first and start with Relicanth for the 3rd straight game. To be honest this game was more of a formality, because he wrecks me this game and I miss on burn flips like no other person can. GG

Game 2
I choose to go second and start with Uxie. He calls on his first turn, so I try and get Donphan going as quickly as possible. I get two Donphans and this game at first looked like it was going to go similarly to Game 1. Also, I missed 3 Pokemon Reversals in one turn that would have really crippled him had I hit just one. Anyways I get Double Drawer and go for Expert Belt and Copycat. I play Copycat and then draw 9 or so off of it.
This game gets really close and I reversal up his Bronzong G level up Uxie X Drop an Expert Belt and PlusPower and bottom deck Uxie for the k.o. At this point I really feel like I have a shot at this game. I knock out his Garchomp C’s and the game is tied 1-1 in prizes. I need an Expert Belt to knock out his Crobat G that is active because I have two PlusPowers in my hand. I draw and wiff. Attack for 40 with my full health Donphan that I had just switched out my other Donphan for that had 120 damage on it.
Anyways I felt good about this and knew I had game next turn, that is until he plays Warp Point, Aaron’s Collection, and gets Blaziken X and a fire to knock out Donphan for game. GG

Final Record 8-2
So I would say that I performed well considering I played Donphan. I had a blast playing and met a lot of cool new people. This is my best finish at a major event, and I have had a lot of fun playing this game competitively. For now I must call it quits though, because I have to focus on getting ready for school etc. Thank you to everyone that I have met and played against in the past few years.
