Nice! Another way Blaizken works is….
1.) Level Up Luxray, Bright Look Vileplume.
2.) Poke-Turn Luxray, promote Blaizken FB
3.) Level Up Blaizken, attach Fire and Energy Gain (from Luxray maybe?)
4.) Jet Shoot. KO Vileplume, Draw Your Prize!!!

    • Anonymous

No offense, but obviously you don’t know what Vileplume does.

Huh? No really, 80 damage from jet shoot wouldn’t kill vileplume because of his psychic weakness. You couldn’t play poke turn or energy gain in the first place because trainer lock is out. unless you’re refering to a different vileplume, that strategy would freeze up after vileplume was active.

      • Anonymous

That strategy was frozen even before Vileplume would have been bright looked lol

Two problems with that strategy: First, both of those trainers (Poke Turn, Energy Gain) are blocked by Vilelume’s power. Two, Vileplume is weak to Psychic, not grass.

      • Anonymous

You mean to say that vileplume is weak to psychic not fire? lol You said “not grass”

Correction Fail. Thanks for making a point to notice my flaws. I’ll be sure to do so for you in the future, if the opportunity arises. :P

Can’t poketurn if vileplume is out.

      • Anonymous

        No poketurn or e-gin

Another fighting pokemon that KO’s Luxray X in one hit with one energy is Mankey SV

    • Anonymous

exactly, he ignored the monkey. Don’t ignore the monkey.

      • Tyler Z

Mankey also have 50 HP, is returned KOed by almost anything and can be donked by Sableye. Don’t ignore the facts.

“This attack is great to disrupt, because without trainers in the game, your opponent will have a hard time retreating Vileplume every time he gets lured active, and even if they attach Unown Q, the waste of energies will make them think carefully if they really want to retreat because you can just lure them back in next turn.”I think many people who play Vileplume are going to be expecting this tactic and will play at least 2 or 3 Warp Energies in their decks, so I’m not sure if Blaziken will disrupt them that much, but what are you gonna do?Nice article though, you included a lot of good insight.

I expect to see at least some Dodrio UD teched in as well for just this reason. But it is a solid tactic, one that may win games.

vileplume is weak to psychic so you have to luring flame and vileplume has to stay actice… or you can brightlook and have uxie x hit it for a ohko. Mankey SV OHKOs Luxray and does heavy damage to any other lv x.

You are right, i completely forgot about the mankey SV, and i also forgot to add that driflimb is a great tech gainst mirror luxchomp matches(among others), toxicroak, bronzonb, and the pixies are goood targets for the shadow ball.

the point is the warp is not searcheable under trainer lock, and without claydol, with just 3 on a deck, its not guaranteed to will have it right when you need it. Still, i dont expect te plume to stay locked for more than 1 turn, 2 at best and with a lot of luck, still, the energy attachment to plume will make them unable to attach to gengar, which lets you buy one more turn to do something, like leveling up or hiding trainers with bebe.
Since the trainer locks are the hot topic nowadays, i expect to see a great increase in the use of judge, PONT and bebe´s.
Im not saying its a waterproof strategy, but against 80% of the viletomb players (from bad to mediocre ones) it will be effective.

important note left out about Promocroak G (and why its better than Mankey) is that it returns Blaziken FB KOs as well….
