Wouldn’t it be more effective to use Blastoise in a deck of its own, along with a Dialga and Delcatty in there? It seems a bit clunky to put into Kingdra, no?

A tech line of Blastoise works surprisingly well in Kingdra. For the majority of the game, you can almost ignore that it’s there…just play Kingdra like it’s normally played. Mid-game start thinking about when it might be effective to go for Blastoise. You could ditch Dialga altogether, and just have the intimidation factor with a Stoise with one or two waters on your bench ready to attack. Another strategy is to set up damage, and go for everything at once, like Adam mentioned. In all, simply having the Blastoise can be game-breaking, especially if your opponent is unaware of it’s existence in your list.

Lastly, in the Dialga/Palkia matchup, and probably a few others, a quick Blastoise at the beginning of the game is a great help, and easily gives you a better chance to win. Most likely they can’t 2KO it, so it gives you a few cheap attacks, and perhaps you can KO an Uxie and Azelf or so to get a prize advantage. Also, whenever you use Blastoise early-mid game, you can use Dialga to get it back a second time later, or perhaps put in two night maintenance, pokemon rescue, etc.

The problem with using Blastoise on its own is that I feel it is somewhat clunky itself. It is not a very quick card and it relies on Pokemon Powers for speed (be it Delcatty, Dialga, or itself), which can be a problem because of all the people using Mesprit LA and Power Spray at the moment.

Kingdra is a quick card that does not directly depend on Pokemon Powers, which is nice, and the Blastoise can aid it as a tech card. You don’t have to set as many cards up as you would if you were to be using Delcatty with Blastoise. I think it would be slow getting everything out and not powerful enough for all the effort you put into it.

The tech Blastoise in Kingdra can be effective against non-SP decks, but against SP Pokemon it is much harder to pull off.

You would need either a lot of water in your decklist originally or 4 super scoop up to continue using dialga, which can lead to lackluster results. Not to mention how terrible it would be to start with a Dialga. You’re probably better of with Delcatty and with as much testing as I have done with that setup, it isn’t reliable…

Basically, just forget about Blastoise, for now.

    • http://www.adamcapriola.com/ Adam Capriola

Yeah I am sure there are much better Kingdra builds out there, this list I used with Stoise had 11 Water I think. I used that at Regionals and it did pretty well, but by now I’m sure it’s obsolete.

I think stoise can be pretty decent with floatzel and the new wailord coming out. Swinging for 100 every other turn with a 180 hp wall and then exploding for another OHKO with floatzel, only to power up another wailord quickly again due to all the energy going back in the deck AGAIN sounds pretty sick.

    • http://www.adamcapriola.com/ Adam Capriola

Yo Brian, your comments are great! Thanks man. I haven’t looked at any of the Supreme Victors spoilers yet, but I’ll make sure to take a look at Wailord when it comes out.

I really use Blastoise PL with Gyarados ST and Wailord SV…

I use lots of trainers on the deck, so i can have all the pokemons quick, then start making the “dig well”, with blastoise as active, i can kick some asses with the Aqua Press, if the thing goes well, my blastoise will charge up the Gyarados and the Wailord, so there will be 12 energies on the field, which gives to blastoise a shocking 140 damage for two energies!…i hope i can hear your opinions, i am kind a newbie here :p (i play with 20 energies, 2 blastoise, 3 gyarados and 3 wailords, lots of trainers, bebe’s search, roseanne’s research, some balls… please give me an opinion n.n

This is acquiring a bit much more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool functions like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one particular of individuals will center on that item, and an additional set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” can be great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist produced based on an amalgamation of what all your close friends are listening to, which can be enjoyable. Individuals concerned with privacy are going to be relieved to understand you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits in case you so select.

What I would like to know is why should I care? I mean, not to say that what youve got to say isnt important, but I mean, its so universal. Everyone’s discussing this man. Give us something more, something that we can get behind so we can really feel as passionate about this as you do.

I feel the information given in the post is actually great. I have been performing a basic research about the issue and your blog pretty much helped with a good deal of problems I had. I am writing an essay and school assignment for my English class and presently reading through more than a few information sites to research.
