Commenting Etiquette

Be cool. That's all we ask. The writers and editors put a lot of time into bringing you these articles, so show some respect. It's ok to be critical, but please be civil about it. Don't embarrass yourself in front of everyone by making juvenile remarks because you may regret it later. If you have issue with someone, "Get a room." Nobody wants to see your childish back-and-forth banter. Think twice before commenting, use proper grammar, HAVE FUN, and thanks for adding to the conversation!

Why is this well-written article getting negative ratings?

Is it because there is no decklist or something?

I wish Adam would just scrap the rating system – it’s become a magnet for idiots.

    • Anonymous

Thanks :) Yeah, the rating system seems to be getting used in the wrong way recently. Not sure why, but hopefully people will start adding reasons for their negatives at least..

      • Anonymous

I think it should be like Facebook. You can like something, but if you disagree you have to put it in the comment box.

I have no way to force people to leave a comment at the moment. I’m waiting to see if better software gets produced in the next few months, then I might try to upgrade.

I really like the rating system in that it gives the author an idea of how the community likes the article. There are enough readers that a good article will go positive reasonably quickly. Those that rate negative with no reason are few enough that we can counteract their idiocy without too many problems.

I think it works ok, the best articles always seem to end up with a good rating, like this one.

I’m waiting for people to start posting YouTube-like comments about the dislikers saying “3 people can’t afford Emboars”

another good article by Dan Middleton keep up the good work

well written man. great article. but you did forget one energy acceleration guy form Triumphant. celebi. dont forget when tis active once epr turn you can attach a grass to one of your pokemons. may prove useful to counter some decks like donchamp that focus on evolutions. since its attack walls evolutions.

  • Ricardo Pereira

ampharos col/hgss and ninetales ul or ud??…

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_C7OQD6BLJCXQBNSHNZWVWLRXHE George

Ninetales UL often gets overlooked. With Reshiram needing 3 Energy to use Blue Flare, Heat Acceleration is the perfect set up to load an empty one on your bench. The single-energy retreat cost then allows you to bring Reshiram back to the front for a major attack. This is a great late-game play!

      • Anonymous

Might as well use the deck space to fit in an extra Energy Retrieval/Fisherman/Junk Arm so you don’t have to end up wasting retreats and attacks just to charge one extra Blue Flare. Whiffing on a KO in a KO exchange is just as deadly in a close game as an Energy drought.

  • aura

Great article, but it would’ve been a little bit better if you listed the energy-helping trainers/supporters/stadiums, like Fisherman, Energy Retrieval, Interviewer’s Questions, or Burned Tower, and you didn’t put Celebi Prime or Ninetales UL. Maybe in a separate article or edit?

    • Anonymous

well i guess he didnt put ninetales in because then the criteria would also have to be energy accel attacks instead of just powers and abilities. and theres a lot of pokemon that can attach energy in an attack. also fisherman, IQ, ER and such dont really accelerate the energy. they just get it so you can accelerate it.

Ignore the negative votes brah. People are stupid this day-and-age and only care for articles that have decklists it seems. They don’t care if an article is well written.

By the way, the article is very good. Keep up the good work!

  • J Humphrey

You guys are forgetting the good old energy switch!

  • Julian Chen

    Mismagius UL: Magical Trans

Being able to shift your (psychic) energy around will essentially reduce your attack costs by one.

    Nice article, really enjoyed it.

Also, still can’t figure out how to use my 6p account to post with.

  • Hu Jacky

25 can afford Emboars :P. (here u go adam)

This is now the 6th highest rated 6P article ever.

4th highest rated non UG article ever.

Only top 10 rated article without a decklist.

People should not be allowed to vote unless they can prove the have 2 or more Emboars.

    • Anonymous

Which is kind of odd if you ask me. Don’t get me wrong, this is a well written article that sums up Energy acceleration pretty well, but beyond taking a category or type of strategy and summarizing the uses of the cards that fit in it, it didn’t really have anything new. Could be people being familiar with Dan, could be people “rebelling” against the idea that deck lists make for more appreciated articles, or maybe people were unfamiliar with the Jirachi/Shaymin strategy which was relatively unheard of before.

      Good job though!

I like to think it’s people rebelling against stupidity.
