Great article, Luncan. I love that you’re encouraging each player to try their own way and not just always go with 2/2 or 3/1.

My personal preference is to usually go 3/1 with 2 Aaron’s, but I am flexible and will try both out. Again, great job. :)

wow absolutely great article. I never really gave that much of a deep thought on 2-2, 3-1 lines of SP because the only SP I ever ran was DialgaChomp and I just knew that 3-1 Dialga and 2-2 Garchomp C would be the best because of the starting option and maximum healing potential. Astounding read :D

Great read! Really explains a lot.

nice read interesting detail on the matter.

I’ve played 3/1 and 2/2,i like 2/2 more just personal preference.

I always prefer 2-2 when it comes to Garchomp and Luxray. When it comes to Blazikin I usually do 2-1 or 3-1, although if it is something like a Dialga counter I would run 2-2.

I am definatably going to run a 1-3 Luxray GL X and a 1-3 Garchomp C X so I can max out Healing Breath and Bright looks. (NOTE: If you are a noob I am not serious, this really isn’t a good idea unless you play like 3 Azelf.)

This is actually the one thing i change like all the time in my builds… So far I have found 2-2 Chomp with ambi + dragonite give you the upperhand on SP mirror. However I found that the 2-1 for Lux is all i need… Luxray isnt as effective as it was last format… IDK why but i hasnt been

As long as nothing is prized, 2/2 just works in theory.

Instead of wasting an Aaron’s Collection as your supporter, or banking on the fact you’ll have a Premier Ball in your hand when you need it, you can simply use Cyrus’s Conspiracy to get a SP-Radar (Garchomp C X) and another energy.

I personally just don’t like messing with the discard pile (the reason I only run 1 Aaron’s Collection for recovery), so I guess I’m a little biased in that regard as well.

I’m on 2-2, consistency is the key and if you’re playing for the win, you MUST be consistent every single game of the tournament, i did top 32 at worlds with 2-2,2-2, and lost to 2-2, 2-2 luxray garchomp line, wich would become world champion, if you’re going to try 3-1 think about it, you’ll need +1 aarons collection, +1 Azelf, +1 premier ball or pkm rescue, so it’s +3 card, if you can fit your deck excelent (try it out) if NOT use 2-2 and stop relying on luck use those 3 spaces to get +1 SP radar,+1pokemon communication +1 bebe’s search or whatever fits your playstyle

    Very nice article.

I’d go with 2-2 for all decks except DGX in DialgaChomp, for the reasons that you stated. In my opinion 2-2 on Chomp is very important to provide the important Healing Breath drops, and if you only play one Chomp you 1) Don’t have as much healing and 2) Run the risk of it getting sprayed.

in case of luxchomp, healing breath is a good addon, but it is not as important as getting your bright look power sprayed. tho 2-2 is the traditional way because you would want to leave azelf off the bench as much as possible as it just takes up that 1 bench space for prob all game long 3-1 has great advantages like he mentioned. Having 3 base Garchomps gives you a better advantage of winning the Garchomp war due to you having that 1 more base garchomp xD

22 is better because you don’t need azelf as much.

    • Walrus

over a third of the deck…i mean I guess you’ll win the garchomp war.

I would say be a man and play something other than SP. Then you don’t have to worry about it.

Ha! I was just browsing through six prizes and was surprised to see an article written be you. I agree Blaziken is much better for starting with it and dragging/burning stuff that your opponent does not want out. LuxChomp on the other hand, I like 2/2 for both, I just find it simply makes for better recovery and being able to bank your aaron for when you really need it (for a clutch discarded crobat G KO for instance) rather than using it to get Lux or Chomp X back. Anyway awesome article good to see some other people I know play the game =)
