SixPrizes.com is looking for article submissions.
If you think you have some Pokemon TCG information or knowledge that the SixPrizes community would find valuable or interesting, give us a shout!
Please note: We can’t guarantee your article will make it to the front page, but at the very least you will have a great post you can add to the forums.
Step 1: Create an Account
Log in if you already have a SixPrizes account…
OR
Register for a free account if you don’t have one.
You will be prompted to enter several things upon registration:
- Your Name
- E-mail Address
- Login Name
- Password
You cannot change your username once registered, so choose carefully. You can however choose a different display name for the blog portion of the site later on.
Next, head to your profile page which can be found at here.
On this page you can add biographical info which will appear on the site inside the author box, and choose your display name.
It is highly recommended that you include some kind of bio as it is a good way to let other SixPrizes members know a little something about you.
You could include your…
- Hobbies
- Websites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc…)
- Pokemon TCG History (how long you’ve played, accomplishments)
- Ways to contact you (instant message, e-mail)
- or whatever!
Just make sure you click “Update Profile” after you go through that page.
HTML Hints: To put spacing between lines in your bio, use <br /><br />.
To insert a link, use the code <a href=URL>LINK NAME</a>. Replace URL with the actual URL and LINK NAME with the link’s name. Make sure to include the http:// in the URL.
Step 2: Upload an Avatar

Mystery Man
In order to upload your picture, head to http://gravatar.com and sign up for an account.
Make sure you register with the same e-mail address you registered with here.
There is no way to upload your image directly to SixPrizes unfortunately. You must do it through Gravatar, which is used universally throughout the web.
The e-mail address you use will be associated with your uploaded avatar.
Step 3: Choose a Topic to Write About
Here is a list of topics that the SixPrizes community enjoys reading about some sample articles to model after:
- Deck Analysis
- Tips and Strategy
- Ambipom G: The Dragonslaying Monkey
- How to win HGSS UL Pre-Releases.
- Misconceptions about Making Your Own Rogue Deck
- Card of the Day
- Tournament Reports
All Featured Articles are also good to look at if you want to see examples of good articles to mimic.
Step 4: Write Your Article
Please type your article on Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Open Office, or some word processing program that has a spell and/or grammar check.
A grammatically sound article will be posted to the site much quicker than an article that has errors.
An article that is filled with errors will more than likely never make it public.
Here is a list of guidelines to keep in mind while you write:
- Spell-check AND proofread your article THREE TIMES before submitting it. Articles that have any spelling and/or grammatical mistakes will not be published.
- There is no word count requirement for articles; we just ask that they are written coherently and cohesively.
- Break your writing down into small paragraphs. It is makes your article much easier for others to read.
- Please type any deck lists straight down the page; do not try to center your list as they appear on the site. We will format it for you.
- At top very top of your submission, list which cards you would like pictures of to be placed within your work. We will insert the images for you.
- Capitalize all of the following terms:
- The word “Pokemon”
- Pokemon names
- Trainer cards
- Energy cards
- Attack names
- Poke-Powers and Poke-Bodies
- Attacks, Poke-Powers, and Poke-Bodies should also be placed within quotes the first time they are referenced
- For example, “Cosmic Power” or “Dragon Pump”.
- Please format the abbreviation for Level X cards as “LV.X” or “Lv.X” (not “LV. X” or “Lv. X”).
- Please use the term “prerelease” and do not format it as “pre-release” or “pre release”.
- Do not use tasteless slang or abbreviations in your article. You must project yourself as being a professional.
- Focus your discussion on the subjects within your article that you think are most interesting and relevant to our readers. Do not explain why you use staple cards like Claydol or Roseanne’s Research; no one wants to hear about that. Talk about the unique aspects of your subject matter.
- Please refrain from discussing deck matchups extensively in your article.
- Failure to follow these guidelines will result in an unpublished article.
- Don’t worry if these instructions make it seem difficult to write an article; just put your mind to it, focus, envision yourself writing a great article, and I know you will be able to do it! :)
Step 5: Submit Your Article
- Log-in and on the left hand side underneath “Posts”, click “Add New”. Alternatively, just click this link http://www.sixprizes.com/wp-admin/post-new.php to be directly taken to the add new post page.
Copy and paste your article into the text box. Make sure to give your article an appealing title.- When you are finished, click the blue button on the right that says “Submit for Review”. You can also “Save Draft” if you want to finish your article later before submitting. We will then review your composition and send it to the press!
- You must click “Submit for Review” when you finish!!!
If you only “Save Draft” we won’t know that you’re finished writing your article and it will never be reviewed or published.
- You can also leave a note for the editor(s) in the “Add note:” box if you wish.
Step 6: Wait for Approval
After you Submit for Review, we will receive notification of your submission.
We will review your article as soon as possible and either schedule it (approve it) or save it as a draft (reject it).
Either way, you will receive e-mail notification along with a note explaining our decision.
If you are rejected, you can revise your article and re-submit, but some articles simply are not front page material. Usually it is because your choice of topic or writing style.
If you are accepted, the e-mail will contain the date and time your article will be posted, so make sure to add that to your calendar!
Step 7: Subscribe to Your Article
With some luck, people will leave you comments once it hits the site.
In order to make sure you stay on top of the discussion, here’s how to receive e-mail notification of new comments:
- Navigate your way to the comments section of your article.
- Underneath the comments box and above the first comment, there is a link that says “Subscribe by email”. Click that.
- That’s it! You could also subscribe via RSS if you prefer.
It’s important to respond to people’s comments and questions, so please don’t forget this step!
