Pokemon Card Tips: The SP vs SP Matchup

I’ve got a special guest for this week, so listen up! The visual and audio quality of the video are not what I would like them to be (cicadas were chirping and the sun decided to set on us), but content is just awesome.

You know the drill, let’s get some good discussion going on this topic. Let us know if you have any questions or tips! :)

    he said bumpkin.......insane
  • hahahah yeah it is basically country bumpkin edition. Next time we'll have corncob pipes and straw hats. ;)
  • Pokémon TCG Discussion: Country Edition. It sounds perfect. It would be a good finishing touch if you both had rocking chairs though, lol. Great video. It's nice to see ideas relayed back and forth for observation.

Or play Unown Q for some Unown on Unown action... Yeah, attach it right there.

For [C] less, no less. Very economic.

no lol spamming adam, anyway you keep the croak in your hand until you can get a ko. If you don't have a free retreater you have no choice but to drop it the turn before.
  • @YoYo: I dunno if we have them in the PNW, but if we do I am moving.

I love when Ian says "Back in the day, people just ran 4 Power Spray in Dialga decks like that."

The use of the term "Back in the day..." almost makes me feel weird. Nice job on the vid, Adam.

I'm interested in one thing Ian said about the Toxicroak G Promo...
He mentioned that if the opponent saw it, they would know that they have to weigh their options since their Luxray will get KO'd... but why wouldn't you lay it down in one turn after they KO it?

Is it better to lay it down before they make the KO, so you trick them into making the wrong choice, or laying it down in surprise AFTER they KO it?
  • Almost always after. If you lay it down before, they can gust it up and possibly (though unlikely) get it stuck there. Also uxie lvl X hits it for the OHKO, so if you play it down first, they attach to uxie and then ko with luxray and then with uxie. I guess playing it down first lets you attach and save an energy gain, but its almost always better to do it after luxray has KOed somebody.

You've never seen one IRL?!?!? IMPOSSIBLE!

Anyways... Adam, I am SHOCKED to see that you are not wearing your hat. Ridiculous!
  • Hahahah yea I decided to let you guys see my luscious hair for this one.

The main reason I usually wear a hat is cause the lighting my house is terrible and it creates a glare on my face and I look like a ghost. The hat helps prevent that.
  • CICADAS? FFFFF. I hate cicadas so much. I've never seen one IRL but I think if I did I'd probably poop myself. You are brave men.

Good video! I especially liked the part about saving your Power Sprays for when you really need them.

Nice vid, good topic, great info. Thanks!

I don't really have any more to add, just thought I'd agree :]

    Cool lighting, too ahah

i plan on doing more videos with better quality. We just kinda improvised as far as what to talk about. Adam was very quick yet efficient at putting this together.

Video's dark, but you can just think of it as a podcast, haha...good clear advice by ian, especially the part about using the powersprays wisely.
  • Dave Hueglin
Great idea for a video Adam.

I really like Ian's advice on targeting non-Sp Pokemon or OHKO SPs so that they can't Poke-Turn to remove damage. Poke-Turn is so annoying to play against - but so fun when you play it!
