This is an idea i had, and would like some help. I LOVE Ability Emboar, but wanted some sort of counter for MewtwoEX, so while looking through the Next Destines set i noticed the Darmanitan with the DarMAXitan attack, which works like Audino but better, and with 2 heads on any number of heads (up to your energy) you can kill Mewtwo EX streight out!
as well as pretty much anything else in the format with 3/4 heads + Fliptini!

well heres my deck list. i would need help to improve on this concept alot!

    3-2-2 Emboar ability (Promo Tepigs)
2-2 Darmanitan (Both Next Destinies) (might use the Singe Darumaka from BW1)
    1 MewtwoEX
    1 ReshiramEX
    2 Reshiram BW
    2 Victini (Ability)
    1 Cleffa

    4 Collector
    3 Cheren
    2 Cilan
    3 Heavy Ball
    3 Rare Candy
    3 Junk arm
    3 PONT
    2 Super Rod
    3 Switch
    1 Fisherman
    2 Energy Retrieval

    9 Fire energy
    4 Double Colourless

    Stratergy.
well heres the inital stratergy. Use Emboar to plonk loads of fire energy onto the new MAXitan, and with the help of Victini, go with sevear damage output, to kill aposing MewtwoEX's. with 3 heads you can even kill Magnezone and other pokemon with 150hp or less.
i use max DC Energy to help the attack out, and since i have max DC, i can include some other EX cards as well, like MewtwoEX for his first attack, and even ReshiramEX since they both require 2 colourless for their attacks. Victini also works with ReshiramEX, giving you a second chance to get the right outcome with both attacks.
you can even use Emboar to dump a whole load of energy onto MewtwoEX at once to power up X-Ball

the trainers are a mess, but i'll try to explain the stratergy here as well.
Max Collector to get the best chance possible at those early Tepigs and Darumaka, and any Ex cards you need. Even Cleffa, for if you get a bad start. heavy ball to get Reshiram EX, Emboar and MAXitan. was debating Comunication, but couldn't find room with what i had, and since Heavy ball dosn't get rid of cards from your hand, and works with a no pokemon hand, i thought "why not?" plus all the evolution cards in the deck have 3 or more retreat anyway.
Cheren and Cilan are the draw supporters, with Cheren getting more cards, and Cilan getting you the fire energy you need to really get going with Emboar. i might use an extra 1 of either card, but i'll see how this goes.
as with all Emboar decks you need Energy Retrieval and fisherman, though since i have Cilan i can aford to have just one. plus your not using the BW Reshiram as much now (those are your just in case cards), since you want to go with Maxitan or the Ex's.
Rare candy helps to get those Emboars out a bit quicker.
Super rod gets pokemon and energy cards back into your deck, so if you find your only supporter is Cilan you can get those energy back streight away.
you can also use Super rod with Heavy ball to get back those lost Emboars and Maxitans right away!

all the other cards are self explanitory, like Junk arm gets back trainers to re-use, and PONT for a fresh hand.
    and lots of Switch!
  2. Re: DarMAXi-Boar

Skyarrow Bridge only works for basics. You also only have 4 Draw supporters, which is not enough. Make some room for Junipers, Ns, or more PONTS. You should also max out Rare Candies, as only two lowers the consistency. It's not about having enough candies for your stage twos, it's about having the candies in the first place for them. You should also use a lot more switch, like 3 or 4, because Emboar will get catchered up easily and it will be hard to retreat him.

    Re: DarMAXi-Boar

Might as well run fliptini in here since you also have Reshiram EX. It doesn't matter if it gets catchered and KO-ed because then the opponent spared your attackers.
  4. Re: DarMAXi-Boar

    He already does.

    Re: DarMAXi-Boar

i have decided to make a few alterations.

    so first i'm taking away.
    -1 Sky arrow Bridge
    -2 Eviolite
    -2 Pokemon Catcher

    and i'm adding
    +2 Switch
    +1 Cheren
    +1 Pont
    +1 Rare Candy

i figured that there wasn't really any room for catcher, since i don't have enough draw support as EliGagerNorris said. also Eviolite had to be dumped as well, but we get more Switch for our 3+ retreat pokemon, a few more draw cards and a candy!

i have editted the first post with these updates.

    Re: DarMAXi-Boar

Iv'e been play testing this with my mate, with the odd proxy card (Mewtwo EX, and Reshi EX), and his EelZone deck, and his own version of 6 corners. It works quite well, getting Darmanitan out by turn 3-4 with a good few games where I had it on turn 2, due to a Heavy ball or the card already being in my hand. I usually managed to get 100 damage, with 2 double colourless energy, or a load of fire energy. But realised that, even with a high count of Switch, I never seemed to find them after I get my Emboars Catchered. and then I have to leave it for fodder, or attach my energy to it, to attack with it, which for an 80 damage output is horrible. and what's this? after Emboar is knocked out I draw 1 of my 3 Switch :(

I was thinking of putting the switch count to the 4 cap, as well as Junk Arm for the late game switch, or even the use of Twins, to get what you need. I have since been playing around with the trainer list to see what works for me, and some other trainers like Pokegear, since my supporter line is low, and even the new Exp Share.

So far the max Switch line has been working wonders, as it just frustrates my mate who even goes to length's as to use a juniper to get rid of his god like hand for the sake of finding another Catcher, and then realising that a vital card was in his old hand.

But anyway, I was wondering what your opinions are. I will update my deck list after a bit more play testing.
are there any cards I should add or take out. (I have already mentioned that I'm now playing with 4 switch, but have not updated the list) maybe my Pokemon lines need fixing or my energy needs fixing, to help add more supporters/ trainers or even a stadium.

Cool. But personally I think this deck is too slow, slower than Reshiboar.
  8. DKQuagmire Member

Well this deck has over gone some drastic changes, and I'm only using cards that I own Legitimately now. (as in cards iv'e either bought or got in boosters)
this means I have had to tweak the list to work with what I got, and the deck runs allot faster now!

    heres my new deck list.

3-1-2 Emboar BW ability (BW 17 Pignite, Promo Tepigs)

    2 Reshiram BW

    3 Switch
    3 Twins
    3 Cheren
    3 Cilan
    2 Rare Candy
    3 Junk Arm
    3 PONT
    2 Energy Retrieval
    1 Fisherman
    1 Super Rod

    9 Fire Energy
    4 Double Colourless

pretty much same strategy as before, but with a few changes as mentioned.
The collector and heavy ball, are really helping me with getting those turn 2 Darmanitans and Emboar, plus with Junk arm on turn 2, you can usually get both of these Pokemon going. turn 3 at the most for most games.
I tried using the BW Darumaka with the turn 1 burn attack (Singe), but found I couldn't search it with heavy ball when i needed them for my Darmanitans in my opening hands (and had no collector in hand also), so I went back to the ND ones, and the deck works better with them. plus 10 more HP!!
I don't have Reshiram EX, hence why he's not in the list. After opening an entire booster box, but playing with Regigias instead is OK.
Because of this, I took out one Victini. another reason for taking out Victini was because I had a few games where I kept starting with it. you can imagine how annoying that is.

I also said before that I was using 4 switch, but I went back to 3 since I kept drawing them and felt that 1 could be a different card.
I also took out a Pignite, since I often found them to be junk arm fodder when you have access to Rare candy through means of Twins, and draw supporters. Since then I have only had one game, where the 1 Pignite was prized and couldn't find my rare candies, so decided to play a high count of Twins, just to find those Candies.
and since we have a high count of twins, we can safely lower our count by 1, so we now have 2 rare candies.

It seems silly, thinking about it. Playing Emboar without Twins with EX's is a big slap to the face! plus when you have a 1 prize lead, and your opponent KO's an EX, (as long as it's not their last prize) you can then play Twins to get the revenge KO by getting what you need to fire those energy down.
I also now use an extra Cilan as well, and now find myself getting all the energy I need.
    (Yes it's that fast now)

    Future tweaks
obviously, the list will be tweaked again for Reshiram EX when I get it, and the good news is, I hear it's gonna be a new tin promo in March, so I'll be happy with that.

only downside I found when playing 3 Cilan's is it depletes your deck of energy, meaning you have to rely on your discard pile for energy in the late game, so twins for an early fisherman, or getting junk arm for the energy retrieval helps out. but I would rather use junk arm, on a switch for Pokemon which have been hit by catcher.
In terms of stadiums, I might play burned tower with this actually, or I might run Battle City to increase my draw, they're both flippy I know, but it can screw your opponents strategy by cancelling another stadium, when they're relying on cards like Sky Arrow Bridge. and since stadiums aren't effected by trainer lock, it works perfectly with this deck.

The stadiums are only worth it if they are very popular - which is not currently the case.

Also, try 3 Emboars instead of 2 - it helps getting it out much easier.

    Thanks Suncool.
I took the advice and after a bit of tinkering, I managed to put the flare blitz (150 damage) Emboar in the deck. otherwise known as bad boar. it's an awesome late game card, and no doubt the inspiration for that awesome Avatar of yours ;)
so my line is now. 3-1-3.
I added back the rare candy so that's now 3
and put 2 Professor Juniper in the deck.
    so thats plus 4 cards.

now what did I take out for these? Well... all 3 Cheren and 1 Cilan, since I got him late game in one match and found I had no energy in my deck, and I just wasted my supporter when I had a PONT in my hand!! XD.
I'm still finding my other 2 Cheren in the deck, so loosing 1 didn't really do anything.

in terms of future techs when I come into more money, or can wait for the promo EX tins in march, I'm definitely getting rid of the 2 normal 130HP Reshirams since I barely ever use them, and they discard my energy when my energy recovery is low they have still scored the odd outrage KO, but that's about it. 2 Reshi EX will replace them, along with the 2nd victini, who will get rid of Rigigigas' space. The 2nd victini is obvious with all of reshiram EX's attacks flipping coins.
  11. Suncool Member

    Try 4 PONT.

And yes, my avatar is BadBoar :D
  12. DKQuagmire Member

i have ordered some reshi ex cards from Chaos cards so I now officially have some on its way.
i have tried with 4 pont's but it sometimes leaves me with that as my only supporter for my god like hand.

the deck I'm running at the moment (Using proxy's for the reshiram ex's) is doing great!
I do however feel this deck needs more energy in order to set up faster.
and I do wonder wether i need Pokemon Communication or not, for the mid-late game to search for Mewtwo, since mewtwo can't be searched for with heavy ball. I might have a useless card like Victini or even Pignite in my hand, that I might want to swap for.

well this is how the deck looks at the moment. feel free to post your comments.

Um well their gonna catcher the emboar or victini so that is gonna die and all the energys are gonna go out by the darmanitan you need to run exp share or something im not a junior either
  14. Suncool Member

^What do you mean? You never attach energy to Emboar or Victini, that's just wasting (unless its your only Pokemon). Exp Share is basically useless in this kind of deck, because you're supposed to depend on Emboar's ability.
