Nice article, and good try with Regigigas. :P

    There’s no Gardy X in the G&G? <_<

    • Mach

Nice to see there are still some G&G players out there, even though I don’t personally like Weavile in the deck.

    Great read J-Wittz,

I appreciated the history lesson as I only just got back into the game with Rising Rivals. I love to use Lucian’s Assignment for exactly the reason you describe. Having a Switch can really help out when you have a wounded big hitter with a high retreat cost (e.g. Venusaur SV). Switch, then Lucian’s and all of a sudden you have a fully powered, fully healed Active ready to Attack.

2 Gallade seems like a bit much, and Gardy X really helps in the deck. I like the idea of PokeHealers in the deck, though I have never seen Nidoqueen played in GG before

Won’t it have been rotated out by the time Double Colorless becomes, or at least shortly after?

    • J-Wittz

well DCE comes out within two sets, so we should have it by sometime in december. So, december till the end of the season such a combo will be available!

Alrighty everybody, I just got back to my school (and beloved laptop) from a church retreat, so let’s get crackin’ on some replies!

@ amt — yeah, I rocked CC’s last year with Gigas, and I just got some lousy matchups :P. I think Gardy X is hard to run because then you need to find space for premier ball, too. I think it’s an option worth exploring but with flygon X out the extreme attack is a OHKO worth avoiding

@ Mach– the alternative here is using a full 4 upper energy line, more techs, more consistency, etc. I like Weaville with my GG just like I like it with my Flygon :D– accel+ damage is always worth exploring! Plus, it gives you a higher good start ratio, leaving you to not rely on call as often.(Yamato even took a lot of the same list/techs that I had with him in his worlds build!)

@ Dave H– Glad you liked it! It’s always nice to be clued into pokehistory– it helps you understand inside jokes, and sometimes understand what makes a good deck today! Lucian’s is (in my opinion) one of the best clutch techs in the game. I especially like it in here because you aren’t “wasting your supporter for the turn” in Lucians because you can still use your opponent’s supporter through Gardy’s “telepass”.

@ Adam– Thanks, man! I’m stoked you posted it! I’ll be sure to have around one of these a week as I notice new things about the game.

@ Pokepockets– I like having more than one Gallade because the deck runs no azelf LA– one prized Gallade can be really detrimental vs. the heavy hitters like Flygon. Also, I like having 5 possible stage 2 cards in my deck, it makes things slightly more consistent, plus it gives you the right to say “haha my raltz can evolve into 5 different stage 2 guys!”.

@ Gelio/Absolution/Alex– Jeremy said the same thing. Double colorless will probably eliminate the need for Weaville. However, it will also benefit other decks like flygon just as much! So in the end, I think double colorless will make GG and Flygon equally powerful decks because they’ll have the same advantages on eachother. Let’s not forget Salamance level X coming from the next set combined with double colorless! Lots of options will become available with that card, maybe that will be a future article of mine. . .

What were Jeremy’s accomplishments with the gardy? James Flint got 3rd at Midwest Regionals with Gardy/Energy Link/Palkia Lv.X.His list was definetly a better play than the Weavile version.

    • J-Wittz

I’m not 100% sure of everything he did, I know he won a handful of cities and at least 4 battle roads– I believe he got top cuts or high places in states/ regionals with just a Dialgia list– one of the few times he dropped the deck. Flint got beat on time too in that event, he could have done better. However, come battle roads season flint’s GG lists were only doing substandard and Jeremy kept winning. I guess it depends on the time of the season I suppose!

    • jeremy Adams.aka.jesus69_team

      yea ok.
i know flint and i havent lost a game to him in some time.
      except my list smashed his.
we actually played the match at reginals for fun.
but i played dialga at regionals.
and are you sure he got third.

great article, but I would swap an uxie with another night maintenance since you aren’t exactly free on bench space

    • J-Wittz

That’s a more than welcome decision you could make to the deck. It’d boost your late game consistency for sure. The deck actually has a pretty good amount of deck space to work with, though! On your bench you’ve got a weaville, claydol, uxie, and an active Gardy or gallade. That leaves 2 spaces on your bench for another gardy/gallade, the nidoqueen, or another claydol.

This is like 6 cards off of Jeremy’s list, but the idea and concept is mostly there.

    • J-Wittz

oh are you from the area? He’s always changing it up from card to card. I know sometimes he uses 4 sneasel and sometimes he doesn’t, and lots of times he messes around with the techs. Either way, he runs the deck like no other

2 other cards that i would try get into the list are the Gardy X and the Pt Gardy
the X allows for extra movement and another attack if necessary and the platinum gardy allows for energy movement and an attack that grows exponentially
dont forget about the occasional azelf that will rob you of a bench space and you will most likely want to have 2 spaces for gardy’s and gallade’s

    • J-Wittz

This deck doesn’t run azelf because it doesn’t have anything you’d lose the game with if it was prized. I’m still a big enthusiast of not playing the level X, but I’ve seen it work both ways. I’ve tried him and I really don’t like PT gardy because you lose the wicked awesome telepass power, you can no longer power lock, you can only move psychic energy, and gallade is a better option for power.

Great article and I actually read all of it! I still think gigas is playable with the right list, I’m curious to see your list. I hope for you sake you went heavy on Lucians.

    • J-Wittz

My deck did not run Lucians, it ran a heavy trainer draw engine and as may possible ways to maintain a mesprit lock (SSU, pokemon rescue, 1 tsd, etc). How would you use Lucians in gigas? I’m curious.

      • Xicious

It works really well and takes a lot of the recoil from having your x Ko’ed. I noticed when I was playing gigas a lot of my felicitys would discard NRG because I’d have a gigas already powered up so I started attaching NRG from my discard to gigas so he could occasionally retreat and still be able to attack. In a normal game I’m used to having at least 8 nrg on my gigas, so this is great with lucians. Keeping up with you nrg discarding and making sure to attach nrgs to gigas before and after sacrifice allow you to lucians powering anything up in play. So you basically use gigas as a set up pokemon for the rest of your deck(of course he’d still be attacking as your main attacker). But if played right you can have 2 fully powered gigas in play requiring only one initial sacrifice(the rest being to heal the gigas). I also ran palkia x, so I didn’t have to focus to heavily on the mesprit locks because I’d lock long enough to get set up and then I’d ko their claydol and would have no need for mes locks.

A lot of people here are talking about DCE but I am interested on what you think J-Wittz, on Expert Belt which is coming out in a month and a half. If the goal is to maintain a Psychic Lock for as long as possible, then Expert Belt can increase your longevity (even furthered with healing) and can allow to use Psychic Lock rather than Psychic Cut and maintain a power lock for longer.

Most likely the best article on the site.

    • J-Wittz

Thanks for your kind words, man! Expert belt coming right around the corner should even the metagame once more all over again. SP won’t be able to use it effectively because they won’t be able to use their energy gain anymore to maintain speed. Flygon variants can try to fit it but then they can’t play memory berry with it. So basically every thing else gets the bonus (or burden? We’ll be soon to find out!) of good old memory berry. I think expert belt is well worth looking into as long as the deck can maintain speed. As I’ve said before, I think the two decks that will benefit most from expert belt are Kingdra and straight speedrill, so I think this deck will still need the speed of weaville in it to compete untill dre comes out. I’d recommend taking out the healers to make room for a couple of these and something else.

    • jeremy Adams.aka.jesus69_team

when expert belt comes out the dark concept of the deck is going to be scrapped for DCE and the belt.
      but like i said before.
it is expected that DCE will have a draw back

      • J-Wittz

that very well could be. I bet it will be something like “only this kind of pokemon can use this energy” etc. The only reason I keep the dark concept is because I’m referring to the time when we have expert belt but no DCE

Is it confirmed that DCE is coming out in the next set or two, or is that just speculation?

    • J-Wittz

Seeing the trend of japanese releases, the Gold @ silver packs which contain DRE should be released right after our Arceus set, making it the equivalent of last year’s stormfront. The japanese card name has changed from “double colorless energy” to “2 colorless energy”, but it is almost guaranteed they are the same card. It’s weird, because the heartgold/soulsilver packs seem to be doing a lot to make the game feel like its base set days (x2 weakness is back for everybody, attacks are slightly weaker, old superpowers like “raindance” are back, DRE is back, etc.). It seems like a set I’d really love to play if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s in the midst of a strange rotation system. All of the new “great” pokemon cards will be weaker because they’re still in a league with the powerhouse diamond and pearl cards still out today.

    Im lovin this article.
I cant tell you how many times i wanted to tear this deck apart and couldnt.
My only regrets would be not playing it at reginals.
Mabey I’ll post my exact list later.
Oh and the only reason queen is still played is because Mr. Lucas likes to play that stupid manetric. And so many people at our store now plays it. So it gives me an upper hand on any deck the spreads.

    • J-Wittz

haha glad to hear from the source of the article itself! I know I probably don’t have the exact list down but as chan said, I’m probably ballpark with the structure and idea of it all.

Mr. Lucas owns like 30 + manetric builds I think lol. It definitely wrecked my gigas =P. Lucas is to Manetric as Jeremy is to GG. With or without Nidoqueen do you still play the healers? Either way, the build has always been sick. It has a chance to beat anything!

This is the list that I have played card for card since nidoqueen has been released. Surprisingly I took out dusknoir for it and everyone always gives me hell for.

    x1 gardy x
    x3 gardy
    x2 gallade
    x2 krilia
    x4 ralts
    x2 sneasel
    x2 weavle
    x2 claydol
    x2 baltoy
    x1 nidoran
    x1 nidoqueen
    x1 uxie

    x4 bebe
    x3 rosseanne
    x2 lucians
    x4 rare candy
    x2 broken time space
    x1 moonlight stadium
    x1 luxury ball
    x4 poke-healer
    x2 switch

    x4 call energy
    x4 special dark
    x4 purple energy
    x2 upper energy

    I love this deck,
it is so much fun to play.
I don’t mind putting up the list because until you have played it,
the mirror match is the greatest game you will ever play.

    also
i have never played unown g or night maintenence.
its just how i play the deck.
I don’t believe in those cards.
    don’t let anything die.
that’s what the healers and queen are for.

and just something i feel needs to be out there.
switch is a must in any deck right now.
with blaziken and flygon-lock being played these cards are amazing.

    • J-Wittz

oh yeah there are some differences here. This list is the embodiment of high risk/ high reward gameplay, but it always seems to pay off when you’re playing it :P. Even with the list out nobody’s as conditioned with the deck as you to be as good with it, but I’m definitely going to test the build out myself and see what I like/dislike. You going to any more illinois BR’s?

everything was too far for the past two weeks.
so i will be going to the BR in joliet at some libary and the one at collect a card n comics.

        but i dont wan to.

Thanks for sharing the list man! I am sure you would wreck anyone here in the mirror match haha. It seems like now more than ever, in game skill is the most important factor in whether you win or lose, not what deck or list you are using.

        thanks.
        and its true.
you really have to know what you are doing and have to be very good at predicting what your oppenent will do.
i enjoy playing decks that make me think.
that turn one KO in my opinion ruins the game.

This is the list that I have played card for card since nidoqueen has been released. Surprisingly I took out dusknoir for it and everyone always gives me hell for.

    x1 gardy x
    x3 gardy
    x2 gallade
    x2 krilia
    x4 ralts
    x2 sneasel
    x2 weavle
    x2 claydol
    x2 baltoy
    x1 nidoran
    x1 nidoqueen
    x1 uxie

    x4 bebe
    x3 rosseanne
    x2 lucians
    x4 rare candy
    x2 broken time space
    x1 moonlight stadium
    x1 luxury ball
    x4 poke-healer
    x2 switch

    x4 call energy
    x4 special dark
    x4 purple energy
    x2 upper energy

    I love this deck,
it is so much fun to play.
I don’t mind putting up the list because until you have played it,
the mirror match is the greatest game you will ever play.

    also
i have never played unown g or night maintenence.
its just how i play the deck.
I don’t believe in those cards.
    don’t let anything die.
that’s what the healers and queen are for.

and just something i feel needs to be out there.
switch is a must in any deck right now.
with blaziken and flygon-lock being played these cards are amazing.

    • J-Wittz

oh yeah there are some differences here. This list is the embodiment of high risk/ high reward gameplay, but it always seems to pay off when you’re playing it :P. Even with the list out nobody’s as conditioned with the deck as you to be as good with it, but I’m definitely going to test the build out myself and see what I like/dislike. You going to any more illinois BR’s?

      • jeremy Adams/jesus69_team estrada

everything was too far for the past two weeks.
so i will be going to the BR in joliet at some libary and the one at collect a card n comics.
        i might go to rockford.
        but i dont wan to.

There’s too much stuff in the format that can OHKO or nearly do it faster than Gardevoir charges up to NOT run healing stuff.

i will admit anything that plays luxray sp usually beats the hell out of me.
like you said its just too fast.
but that isnt as much of the playing feild as you might think.

They are randomly generated by your IP address I think…there is an infinite amount of combinations of eyes and mouths and shapes etc…

Played GeChamp and Gyarados at my first two BRs just to try them out. I haven’t had nearly as much time to test as I did in the past, but honestly I think Blaziken/Luxray seems like the most solid play at the moment. It’s just BR’s though, no need to put THAT much effort into them.

So far I am loving this site
    compared to the poke gym.
it seems that everyone knows what they are talkin about.

    its cool.

    • http://www.adamcapriola.com/ Adam Capriola

The way the site works, as I have mentioned to other people, is through “guided discussion”. Instead of people posting random topics, like they do on other message boards, there is one (or sometimes two) well written posts/articles each day for everyone to think about and discuss.

Quality over quantity is the name of the game. :)

Not to say the other Pokemon TCG sites are inferior, as they definitely all do certain things way better than I could ever do, but this is an alternative form for intelligent discussion. :)

      • J-Wittz

It’s nice because here everybody seems to have room for voice and input instead of the usual complaint-spams other sites can be full of. I recommend this place to any new player because it’s a good way to get some deep, creative insight to the game over a short period of time.

The deck isnt luck based at all.
This is pokemon any deck can be competetive if you get the kind of hands your suppose to.
sure there are decks that dominate most other but if those decks get bad starts they can lose to so pretty weird decks.
the trick with this deck is to try your hardest to net at least 4 cards off your first claydol and at least 5 of your uxie.
If you have to haste healers early,
    big deal.
Next turn you should be attacking with gardevoir.
most consider me a lucky player because i have weasled my why out of a couple of pretty tight spots.
So what im saying is any deck is amazing if you think your lucky enough.
but luck has nothing to do with it.
you either draw the cards you need or you dont.
pyschic lock just happens to be a great way to make an amazing comeback
    if needed.
if you start to try to test this deck.
dont scoop up games that you think you have no chance of winning.
play out every game then tell me if you still think the deck is luck based.
everything you need to win every game is in your deck.
you just have to get to them.
and that is how i play every game.

Jeremy, I understand the joking around, but when you admit to being lucky in most of the games we play together or just myself being unlucky, how could you call me a bad player? Especially after that BS Beedrill/Gengar matchup where ALL 3 of your Scoop Ups HAD to be heads in order for you to win? And you still needed a plethora of other things to go right as well? Yeah…

lol you guys are hilarious total spam about avatars, cursing, and game luck! Anyway GG is a little too slow for even stage 2 decks. In the past you wanted to attack with Gardevoir by turn 3 and running weavile doesn’t accomplish that in my opinion. I feel that bothare amazingly strong cards but it’s really hard to power up considering they take 3 energy. Gardevoir is hard to utilize since you can’t psychic lock 7-10 turns in a row like you could two years ago. Be patient…double colorless energy is coming back and that should help make stage 2 decks like these make a huge comeback. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this deck come back.

gardevoir is one of the best cards ever released in the game hands down.
it doesnt matter when you attack with it..
you dont even have to attack with it and its still broke.
      anyway.
the point is to put your oppenent on a ticking time bomb.
if they dont deal with it early it will win the game most likely.
whether you like the lists posted or not the card is still amazing.
and until the entire playing feild is luxray SP
i think this deck will give people arun for their money a third year runnin.

if you don’t attack with gardevoir early on you won’t stop your opponent from getting their pokemon out. PLOX worked in that way and that’s why it worked. Gardevoir wasn’t super powerful, gallade is. What made gardevoir so good was you attacked early on. Your opponent ran out of things to attack with because they couldn’t get anything out from powers. Once you gave up the lock, and went to using gallade, your opponent could cosmic power and setup. This format it doesn’t even matter if you lock! You can bank off of cards like cynthia’s and chatot and get back into the game. Trust me i know what i am talking about, i played the deck since it came out…

From looking at this list, I am astonished that he could be a serious competitor with this deck. I find it amazing that he runs 4 Poke Healer +, but yet it seems amazing in the same respect.

This deck would ruin me, but I guess if you play it for so long you really get the inside and out of it, so definitely for experienced players or new ones with a little (lot ;]) of time on their hands to test it out and get the feel.

Its too bad it’s going to be rotated out in September :(

as long as you lock it up for the entire game after the first it is still goooood.

This is the outcome of America’s mistake but America we should have learned by now. Everyone makes mistakes lets not make this one again. this so called AMERICAN president needs to reevaluate his morals.

This is such an excellent resource which you are providing and you give it away for free. I adore seeing websites that understand the value of providing a high quality resource for free of charge. It?s the old what goes close to arrives around routine.
