I like how that Shuppet deck plays. I used Shuppet in my old Psychic deck and it was good. It’s a shame that Mewtwo LV. X completely shuts it down and Dialga G LV. X totally walls it. The Omastar strategy with Expert Belt is pretty interesting even though I’m not a fan of fossil decks.

I think you meant to say, “We were no playing Poke Blower +” to KO the Mewtwo before it levels up.

Both Shuppet and Omastar are easily countered against, so I would be cautious about playing such fragile decks.

Oops yeah I meant Poke Blower, not Drawer, thanks for catching that.

I did a little testing of Omastar myself for a brief period, and in my experience the damage never got high enough until late game, where it was too late. If you are going to try this deck out, I would go more for either a primary attacker out on the front lines while you discard all your fossils, or just something to stall with until you can build up enough fossils in the discard.

Also, don’t discard your helix fossils, as tempting as it is. The hardest part about omastar seems to be that at LEAST 10 cards out of your 60 card deck have to be fossils, so good luck fitting much else in there after claydol/uxie/omastar/etc.

No experience with shuppet here, though. Saw it around at BR, but never faced it, fortunately.

Wow Shuppy? It’s ok but an auto loss to mewtwo.
Omastar isn’t to great either because it’s slower and is a crammed deck.

I have also been experimenting with Shuppet. I play Lunatone and Solrock in my deck with the Mr. Mime. If you have Lunatone and Solrock in play, it prevents any damage to those pokemon from Level X pokemon. I have had the most trouble against Gengar, since I usually have a lot of trainer and supporters in my hand. Also, if my opponent starts with Gastly and prevents me from playing any trainer, I’ve also found it hard to set up. It’s been fun trying this deck, though!

  • Christina

OH, BTW I donked Mewtwo turn one!

Shupper works by using it’s fade out attack which hits for 30 and you can return shuppy and all cards attached to your hand. So you could have an expert belt attached and 4 pluspowers and hit for 90 each turn because tour pluspowers go to your hand.

Yup exactly. After Shuppet goes to you hand, you want to send out a Mr. Mime MT or Spiritomb AR with hopefully an Unown Q attached which will give both of them free retreat.

Mr. Mime can be tough to hit, and Spiritomb slows your opponent down, so they are good Pokemon to promote to the active position. The next turn you play Shuppet back down, retreat Spiritomb / Mr. Mime, then attack with Shuppet again.

For Omastar’s first attack ‘Time Spiral’ couldn’t you level down the Pokemon, and if the basic pokemon has less HP than the damage counters on it… It would be knocked out, correct?

So basically — Take evolution off Flygon (Vibrava has 70 HP), Take evolution off Gayarados (Magikarp has 30 HP), Take evolution off Gengar (Haunter has 70 HP), etc, etc…

So I think that strategy could work as well, and you could take a Lv. X off and put it to it’s Stage 1 form which is very useful.

    • Mach

To make sure it’s clear, you can devolve a Pokemon that has a LV. X on it, and the LV. X goes back into the hand/deck in that case, but if the Pokemon is a basic, you can’t just de-Level it. Only Gengar LV. X can de-Level other LV. X’s.

Woodstock you are right. But it doesnt work on Mewtwo LV.X because it is not evolved so shuppet would still get crushed by a solid Mewtwo LV.X deck. But it is a good idea.

Shuppet is a great deck. Have you ever tried to add in a 1-0-1 Metagross SV line along with one or two Rare Candies? Also with that Rare Candy you can avoid Bright Look’ed Shuppets before they turn into Banette, attach Memory Berry and some Plus Powers and voila’ you can KO Mewtwo Lv.X. Plus the Metagross tech makes it a lot easier for you to OHKO opponent’s Pokémon, especially SPs which Pokéturn out of the damage. For some fun you can tech in Electrode G, together with Metagross and a couple of damage spreaders like Crobat G and Poké-Drawer it’s possible to donk a complete field including bench Pokémon. Again, great website. Keep up that good work Adam!

Can one really use Rosanne’s to get fossils? Other then the underground card to get fossils, how would one get them more quickly? That is the most reason people don’t play with fossils. And what I saw of Kabutops, it looked like he was made only to be a starter till Omastar was ready since it discards fossils for damage but it’s much easier to search up and discard using Felicity’s or Reggi-Ice/Steel.

    • Mach

No you can’t use Roseanne’s, but you can use Kabuto MD, Fossil Excavator and Aerodacyl AR to get them from the deck, and Fossil Excavator and Omanyte MD to get them from the discard.

    • Christina

You can also put Sableye in as a starter to pull out a fossil excavator as well.

    • G man

Relicanth GE is great for searching 3 fossil cards for a no energy attack

Aw, this was a extremely top quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this as well – taking time and genuine effort to create a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and by no means seem to acquire anything done.

Well I think that your argued subject is rather perceptive as it talks about lots of accurate data. In Any Event, was thinking whether you would want to interchange web links with my web space, as I am looking to build contacts to further expand and increase web exposure for my web site. I do not mind you setting my web links at the sitewide page, just getting this web links on this particular page is good and adequate. By the way, please be kind enough to contact me at my site if you are keen in exchanging links with me, I would really appreciate that. Thanks a lot and hope to get a reply from you as soon as possible!
