Great idea. Cool deck. Why the ambipom G, :D

    • dillz

      also

Next you get 1 of the Dialga G active via warp energy or switch etc. This Dialga G should have at least 1 special Metal Energy attached to it.

there is no warp energy or switch in that decklist???

  • Power Swing

I really like the idea of dialga and garchomp. I have been working with it for a month now. It’s pretty good, a little slow but if it gets going, it can do some damage. Pretty nice article and keep working with it, I think it has some potential.

Your Pokemon lines look solid however your trainer and energy lines need some help.

    - SP Radar, + Bebe’s.

You need at least 2 Expert Belt and 4 Call Energy.

What happened to the awesome Winter banner? :0

I still see the Winter banner WDIF, and yeah while editting the article I did not notice he did not have Warp Energy OR Switch in the list. It’s a good strategy to use in the deck, but he clearly doesn’t have it in. By next week we’ll have another article up about this deck, discussing it’s dominance over CC’s and why it has been so succesful, as well as a fully revamped and accurate list for everyone to try out.

Everyone should use this opportunity to help “The Thunder” tweak his decklist.

    Things I would take out:
    - Upper Energy since it can not be used with your Lv.X Pokemon
    - Toxicroak G Promo because you already have a fighting tech with Lucario GL
    - Ambipom G seems like filler when you are already running a good colorless SP line in Garchomp C
    - Toxicroak G is probably only in here for a psychic tech but you also need a stadium, your Skuntank G, and your only Psychic Energy in play
    - SP Energy and Psychic energy since I’ve mentioned dropping the Pokemon that would need them
    - One stadium probably Snowpoint Temple since it would hurt you against other SP decks and all stadiums hurt against Flygon

    Things I would add:
+ More Metal Energy (Basic) currently you only have 3 basic energies and 4 Cyrus’s Conspiracies that are meant to get them out
+ Uxie Lv.X would probably be a better psychic tech since it has colorless energy requirements
+ Warp Energy or at least some kind of switching trainer (Warp Point or Switch)
+ Azelf LA I know you’re claiming tight bench space, but you may be claiming losses with certain Pokemon being prized

I played this deck today at a league with a little fun deck I made of the new Promo Darkrai and Cresselia. 3 of each with their respective Lv.X’s, 4 Sableye, Claydol line, and Mr.Mime with Air Wall. I’ll say the deck was slow to start, but once it got out Dialga G Lv.X, I thought I was royally screwed. But then Darkrai Lv.X came in to my hand and Dialga G was no match for Darkrai Lv.X’s Endless Darkness attack. I won with him sitting at 2 prizes left.

Thanks for the update on the list Pablo, as for the other requests, i dont use call energy because it isnt needed in my version, ive tested it against many other decks. But im thinking of adding in a expert belt, it would help. THX again for all the suggestions.

i run this deck and i don’t use expert belt, mainly because you can’t use 2 tools on the same pokemon at once and energy gain is definitely the way to go here, it helps with the 3 or 4 energy requirement on the main attackers.

I’ve played this deck for a while and got 2nd with it at a City’s (lost against LuxApe O_O) and I can’t think of anything right now that does a good job dealing with Blaziken FB and Infernape 4, do you have any suggestions?
I ran the risk of putting Bubble Coat in there, slowing down T2 Deafen and the possibility of EXpert Belt, just because everyone in my meta is teching 1-1 Blaze line in any deck evo-or-SP. =/

I also never found a good reason to have Lucario GL because nothing in the meta is really weak to metal, the only thing I can think of perhaps is saving a Flash Bite drop for OHKO’ing Flygon, but was never worth the bench space in this deck, but with Toxicroak, I can see it OHKO’ing Nidoqueen.

Energy has always been an issue in this deck, trying to make Call Energy consistent first turn running 4, 4 special Metals of course, 3 Warp Energy has always done good timing for switching out, and 3 basic metals so I have SOMETHING at least to search out energy with Cyrus’s Conspiracy, Roseannes Research. As for energy discard pile recovery, all I have is just an Aaron’s Collection and 3 Conductive Quarry, I have balllz…

Great take on such a great list and great deck!!! =D

    • Mach

I got 2nd at a City’s yesterday because of a BLG deck. Them being able to burn your PokeTurns and Warp Points by Luring Flame’ing a Bronzong G/Claydol repeatedly is a problem, too.

We had two of these Garchomp/Dualga G decks being played at our Cities (Kingston, ON). I didn’t play against either but they both seem to have done pretty well. I actually wished I could have played one at least once instead of the Gyarados and Kingdra decked I faced with my Fire based deck.

It was my first cities and I came in 17th. Had lots of fun and leraned tons on lessons.

definetly a good deck. but not the best in the game right now.
First if you ask me pooka had this amazing deck first but thats just me.
also the ambipom one shots the garchomp back.
It think this also losses to anything that can one shot the dialga.(blazeray)
Even it beat two of them in my last cities by a pretty nice lead.
So definetly not the best deck. Mabey the best deck for the better players

I’ve been play testing with and against a variant like this, but was wondering does anyone else feel like it plays more like a stage 2 deck. You have claydol cycling to get what you need, high energy requirements, and big hp. I’ve just noticed this in trying to find a consistent variant I find If your draw is stopped through power locking, a claydol snipe, bad luck, etc. It can get bad in a hurry for you. I’ve just found this deck to play amazing on game then horrible the next and sometimes I have trouble drawing into energy if I don’t hit a cyrus very early. Any suggestions on this? I’ve been considering cynthia’s feelings as a hand refresher, worthwhile?

SM Gausch you are right and i agree with you, it does play more like an stage 2 deck. Also, i am trying to find a good water tech to stop blazeray in my version. And, i really like how this deck plays and i think ill stick with it even if its not the BEST.

Two sounds about the right number, because you need to get them early before you have the energy gain for them to be useful, and more than that and you are just wasting spots in your list. Only play-testing will tell, but that sounds like a good place to start, been wondering how many is “right” myself when trying some decks with my buddies.

Infernape 4 Lv. X is a great tech for Blazeray that gives a big edge in the matchup vs. Dialgachomp. If they can’t reciprocate the KO, it gives them lots of problems.

PromoCroak is all you really need for Blazeray. It 1 hits both of their main attacks and has the power that can sweep it back to your hand so you dont always have to burn ‘turns. There is also Quagsire GL to switch back to the bench after hitting thier fire type for weakness then it can’t get hit by attacks while on the bench.

Promocroak can definitely do it, but its only one card, I don’t see you getting 6 knock outs with it. Play testing the other day DialgaChomp and Palkia lock both seemed to have very tough match-ups with BlazeRay even with promocroak. How do you suggest using it, cause there has to be a way around that deck.

I have tried expert belt and it has been working good, i just took out 1 e-gain and 1 basic metal. Also for blazeray i just ended up using an e-gain early game on a dialga to trainer lock and then warp energy to a dialga g lvx and then keep the trainer lock, with an expert belt and 4 special metals to stop the OTK. This has been working out but ive been using techs such as promocroak to limit blazeray a little more.
