Gengar LV.X with Techs

When Platinum Arceus came out, I immediately recognized that Gengar LV.X was good with Gengar PA with Curse. I then tested a deck that contained a Nido Queen and King which both aid Gengar. Nidoqueen is mainly for healing Gengar LV.X and Nidoking is for damaging your opponent’s attackers.

The Strategy

The strategy is to get a Nidoking out, 2 Gengars, 1 with Curse and the other either the SF one or the other PA one, your choice, and finally a Gengar LV.X. This is the main goal for turns 4-5. Then you can start moving damage around and doing more with both “Compound Pain” and “Territoriality”. This will do 50 a turn to the active (if it has damage when using Compound Pain), and 30 to each bench that has damage.

This will spread very easily and you just use Curse to get damage to Pokemon without damage. Then you will try to get Nidoqueen out to heal your Pokemon so that your Gengars aren’t knocked out as easily. Also, you will try to get a Uxie LV.X out to get some “Trade-Off” going, as this just acts as a Pokedex Handy 910 every turn.

Now, you may think this deck will get destroyed by a SP deck but that is not true because in my version, I tech in a Spiritomb PA to stop the opponent and help myself set-up.

This is the deck list I have been testing and it has done well against the following decks:

Landshark(Garchomp SV)
Queengar
SP (BlazeRay and Luxray GL/Honchcrow G)

I have played 2 games with each one and the Gengar and Nidoking deck went 5 for 6 only losing to Queengar once. The Queengar list I used was Jason Marinez’s list by the way.

This is very interesting and seems decent. Im not to sure about two pokedex though, its good in 3′s or 4′s but other than that it doesnt help a whole lot. Try putting volkners in place of pokedex. Its more consistant and will help lots more.But like kiwill said enough with gengar.

LOL i guess everybody doesnt like gengar as muxh.
But i have 3 candies and 2 pokedexs cause of spiritomb who helps set up. Also, uxie lvx has a built in pokedex. and maybe ill cut the poketurn for the 3rd pokedex or the 4th candy.thx for the suggestions

Saying you can stop SP decks by playing 2 Spiritombs sounds extremely faulty and unconvincing. Spiritombs only hold them back for so long and then the flood gates upon, and especially faster if they get 2 energies and one of their lv X’s out like Luxray and Blaziken to one shot the basics.

I think you need 4 Poke Drawer for sure. Take the Pokedex out, I am not sure why you are using them. Take the Lookers out too.

There is no reason this shouldn’t have 4 Call Energy. That’s a no-brainer. I too fear Nidoking can be stuck active, as 2 Warps aren’t a cure-all. I’d go 2/2 Claydol before putting in Uxie Lv. X, too.

hmmm i guess not much people like gengar as kiwill says but i do hehehehe (no offence) but i would really love it if 6p post something abt cresselia and i don know(gengar, flygon) becoz I JUST LOVE MOON SKIP. and i also thing a good deck must have a maximum if 19-22 pkmn and 27-33 trainers etc. 11-14 energy dont u think so? becoz i hate playing with lotsa pkmn just 3 types like rhyperior delcatty spiritomb is more than enough(thats my deck)

I think it all depends on what deck yo are running and what kind of starting support you actually need. I find the best thing to do is analyze your needs and then find the Pokemon that best meets those needs.

With all these changes, i might just change the nidoking line to 1-1 and add machamp for SP decks.But i might add flygon for retreat instead and take out a warp point for 1 more call too.

How do you ever intend on starting with anything good.

26 pokemon is a fine amount and also, i never said i could stop sp. I just said i could slow it down and try to set up the spread part of the deck. Also, spread might hurt sp because most sp have 80-100 hp (non lvx) and curse can move around energies. I quess that 1-0-1 will be ok to use. more poke turn and crobat.
