Blaziken FB Lv.X SV / Blaziken PL – Deck Analysis

Ok, I’ll start with the questions :

- Could you explain your reasoning behind the 3 Roseanne’s and 3 bebe’s ?
- Why no Blaziken GE ?
- Have you considered Exploud SV ?

I’m sure you have your reasons, I’d just like to have an insight on how you’re thinking :P

He does have 2 Luxury Ball to kinda counteract the 3 Bebes, but yeah I think it def needs 4 Roseanne.

how you would fare against water pokemon such as kingdra, palkia and gyarados?

The list is fine to me,but 2x bubble coat is a must in this deck

I concur that the new Blaziken FB is one of the best SV cards and especially when you team it up with the Pt Blaziken (which is the only Poké who can burn the defending while on the bench – huge advantage)!

I built a Blaziken deck awhile ago and it also had Heatran. But after the SV release, the 2-2 Heatran line was quickly replaced with a 2-2 Blaziken FB line.

Also, I do like the GE Blaziken in order to be an optional bench hitter. In addition, its Fire Dance attack (inflicts 30 damage form only 1 C energy) which can also retreive R energy from your discard pile and have it attached to one of your benched Poké!! This Poké is just too good not to put in the deck.

Another major difference I have is that I run electric Poké to defend/support Blaziken against water Poké. Empoleon, Kingdra and Gyrados are threats here in the upper Midwest. So, this protection is needed. And both Pt Ampharos and Manectric are great Poké in their own right.

At Nats, I ran a Blaziken-Ampharos-Manectric deck (and I beat 5 SP decks that day!) and made the top cut. Unfortunatley, I had too much of a slow start against a Machamp deck and did not make the T32. But I was quite pleased with the deck overall.

Today, I have 2 Blaziken decks, a Blaziken-Amphy-Manectric and a Blaziken-Manectric deck. Notice that Manectric is in both decks. It too is one, imho, of the best Poké out today. I also have LA Ditto in both too. Ditto is a needed “tech” to 1hko pests like Flygon (assuming no Exploud in play). Both are very strong decks, are fun to play, and provide numerous game options (which I like to have).

For me, I find when I Luring Flamed an opponent’s benched Poké into the defending Poké position, I need a Poké that can hit around the new “shield” I just promoted. I may not want to KO the defending Poke immediately, but rather just hit around it. So, I plan to play-test with some other proven bench hitters.

For your list, I’d suggest the following changes:

-1 Rare Candy (with only 1 stage 2 line, 3 should be sufficient)
+1 Roseanne’s Research
-1 Luxury Ball
+1 Bebe’s Search
+1 Lucian’s Assignment (for fast energy attachment)
-1 Energy Gain
-1 Night Maintenance
+1 Palmer’s Contribution (can get 5 Poké and/or energy vs. 3 and you can use it again, if need be, with Palmer’s)

-1 Blaziken Pt
+1 Blaziken GE

I think Pachirisu GE definately deserves mention in this, as for a single energy it can OHKO Palkia G’s, and deal 70 damage + Burn to Gyarados and Kingdra.

I dislike the VS Seeker, the 3rd Cyrus and the 3rd Poke turn. I don’t even know why you have Poke Turn’s in this, and 3 Energy Gain seems excesive. There’s 4 slots to work with, to improve consistency (4th Bebe’s + 4th Roseanne’s), 1 Pachirisu and 1 Chatot?

To answer one of your questions, bendingspoons1, about “why it isn’t seeing much play,” I would think it’s because of how much dominance Gyrados is having in this Autumn BR. That and the fact that people like to take the road well traveled, and go for something that’s proven to win, i.e. Flygon, Speedrill, Gyrados, than take the road less traveled, and develop their own ideas through trial and error.

On the deck list, I think it’s awesome. However, personally, when I build it later this week, I will make a great many changes (would of built the deck weeks ago, but people at my league are hard to trade with). I’d tested a deck similar to this one in my area during league. The rampant amount of Gyrados running around makes it unplayable. Trying to tech in an exploud or bubble coat is an option too, but I find it to be too inconsistent with those cards added in

As I had mentioned, if you do consider inserting LA Ditto, a single Lucian’s Assignment could have Ditto powered up in 1 turn ready to KO a Flygon – which is another popular build, especially the Flygon-Nidoqueen variant. Needless to say, you can Lucians a Pt or GE Blaziken too in order to inflict massive damage unto an opponent’s Poké.

Another popular variant is the Blaziken-Luxray deck. As you know, you can put Luxray GL in most decks and it can provide you with many great options. This would a very nice combo with your Blaziken FB, especially against water decks.

In my opinion, when you run some strong electric Poké with your Blaziken FB, you’ll be able to compete well against water decks. Other decks that are possible issues for your decklist would be Flygon-Nidoqueen and Gengar-Metagross. So, I’d suggest play-testing against these as well.

Using 2 Luxury balls can be very tough to deal with. I know that it works in so decks for consistency, but this deck is not a deck that needs 2 I believe. I would drop one for the 4th Roseanne’s, being that your main attacker is in fact a basic Pokemon.

I would also think about dropping something else,(not exactly sure what to drop, maybe an SP Radar) for a Premiere Ball. That way you don’t just have to play a supporter to get your Lv.X back from the discard pile. Just some thoughts on the subject at least, hopefully some of them are helpful :)

Rules Question,

So it’s okay to have more than 4 of the same pokemon in your deck when they are different types? Example 2 regular Blaziken and 4 Blaziken FB?

Personally I would make Platinum Blaziken the main attacker, by adding in a 2-2 Line of Heatran X. This makes fire breath a usable attack, and a guarantee for 20 burn damage and you can get 2 fire engergies back for using the attack, as well as the pokebody making the attack 100+40+20 for 160 damage with no energy discards.

Bad Matchups for the current meta though, but it’s still competetive and playable.

The Blaziken w/Heatran does provide a sustainable 80 or 100 damage with Blaziken GE or Blaziken Pt, respectively. I prefer Blaziken FB over Heatran for several reasons:

– Blaziken FB is a good starter; Heatran is not
– Blaziken FB’s retreat cost is less than Heatran
– Blaziken FB’s Luring Flame attack can be very disruptive (e.g. Luring Flame an opponent’s Claydol) early game
– Blaziken FB requires fewer Trainers to setup (i.e. Heatran requires Switches, Warp Points, etc. to get it out of active position)
– Blaziken FB can possibly start hitting for 120 (without discarding any energy) by turn 2 or 3 WHILE your opponent is possibly still setting up – could provide an early advantage
