“– Ampharos Prime attacking for 80 or 100 with Expert Belt, or 60 and TGI Energy Gain discard with Pachirisu.”
You must mean 60 and energy discard or 100 dmage with Belted Ampharos Prime, or 40 damage and discard of a Tool with a Pachirisu.

I couldn't edit that message so I post another.

“This Ampharos puts 2 damage counters on each of your opponent’s Pokémon after they play a Supporter card from his or her hand. This means 20 damage almost every turn.”

It only does one damage counter per played Supporter card. :s

Sorry about the errors, Goncalo's native tongue isn't English and I had to do a bit of editing, but couldn't understand what he was trying to convey in some parts. Thanks for the corrections Tonu (you know English better than I do! haha)

This deck is a good lock but the problem is you almost have to have the Ampharos out extremely early for the deck to be really effective!

  • ZZZAPDOS

Hi, I've played almost this EXACT build for quite a while. The Ampharos SW and PL combo is just great, and ampharos prime gives the deck some nice synergy. I used to use nidoqueen in a 2-1-2 line instead of Manectric, so I don't know how much better Manectric will work.

Sadly, I feel that the deck just isn't competitive currently. Once you get the lock up (and your opponent isn't playing dialga G) you can really shut decks down quickly. However, Ampharos is a relatively poor attacker, even with the addition of DCE and expert belt, and setting up more than one just takes too long.

Either way, I think it's an incredibly fun deck to play and I like your build. I would consider switching at least a few of the cyclone energies – and maybe 2 lightning energy – out of the deck for call energy. If you don't draw into that crucial pachirisu, it'll be really tough setting this deck up.

I have a friend that plays ta deck like this one except instead of Crobat G he played it with the curse Gengar plus Gengar X as a tech because of it's “Level Down” power! It worked pretty well, and teh “Curse” really helped, as did “Level Down” it really hurt Sp's!

    Hi,
I apologize for a not 100% perfect english, but just like Adam said my native tongue isnt english.

    Upgrade on the deck consistency:

I think pachirisu isnt a great starter nowdays as the deck slows down a lots, its preferable to start with mareep attach energy and search for energies than attack with pachirisu and search for pokemons. Since we have a two great supporters that can do that (roseanne and collector).

About manectric my only idea of playing it instead of nidoqueen is that since i almost dont run BTS and ampharos needs to enter in play quiclly (by use of rare candy), it will not be consistent using another candy card since i cant fit a 2-1-2 nidoqueen in this decklist.

Cyclone isnt good here too after testing since we can search for lightning with mareep i think its better to run more lightnings.

    Thanks all,

  • MatthewR

The only thing I'd be worried about would be for a stray crobat G or pokeblower+ to lay a damage counter on my own Claydol and it be shut down for the rest of the game.

Yeah I agree, there's a real high probability of one of those things happening too.

My fiance plays a variant of this deck that I built for her a while ago. I didn't even hear about this deck becoming popular at the time until about 3 weeks after she had played it at leagues. While Pachirisu is a great starter, I just feel it may be too much on the deck and later in the game, I would hate to draw in to one when I could use a different card.

In the deck I built, I did 4-2-3 Ampharos (2 PL and 1 SW), 2-2 Manectric, 1-1 Claydol, 2-1 Uxie Lv.X (For Machamp and a quick 60-hitter), and I think I may have thrown 2 Unown G in there. Don't quite remember. Then I put in 2 Cyrus' Conspiracy with 4 Poketurns for the Crobat Gs. I said “screw it” to the BTS and just went with the 4 Rare Candies. For the final touch I included 4 DCE, 6 Lightning Energy, and 2 Call Energy.

The deck runs very well and it's a quick set-up. Although it may seem slow and Ampharos being a weak attacker, it really builds up. While the PL Ampharos sends energies around, the SW Ampharos deals 70 as well while hitting each benched for 20. Since SW's attack requires you to discard all Lightning Energy attached to it, you need only to discard one with DCE attached. PL's attack requires you to send any 1 Energy Card attached to any Pokemon in play. Talk about amazing! If you know you're going to die on your opponent's turn, send that DCE down to an awaiting Uxie (to level up and hit for 60) or to another Ampharos.

Another plus to this deck is Flaffy's Tail Code attack. Man did this attack screw me up big time! While focusing on how to keep Ampharos from hitting the field, I neglect the ability of this fluffy evolution. Sending MY DCE to a Claydol, Mesprit, etc. really hurts my game. Considering you can only run 4 DCE, one misplaced is a big hurt.

Sorry to thread-jack, but I just wanted to get it out there that this deck has MAJOR potential and it's sad that all of the cards are more than likely going to be rotated out.

  • gigar

Try Gallade lv.x wih ampharos for bladestorm.

  • michaelmasacre

Yeah this deck has potential but i have played against it alot seeing as my buddy Rob plays a varient of Amphy, and i have to say when your opponent is playing nidoqueen, your lock doesnt really hurt at all. Also like mentioned earlier, a stray crobat/poke blower +, or the occasional curse gar to set a damage counter on your claydol and BAM your own card was your downfall. Other then that this is a pretty insane deck to watch as the damage just keeps adding up.

  • soundsnake0108

interesting build, mine differs quite a bit.

my amphy line is the same,
    1-1 claydol
    2 uxie
    1 Mr.Mime MT/1 Spiritomb PA

i removed manectric completely because while it's body is okay, crobat g's flashbite/gengar's shadow room just get around that, i felt that IF the occasion appeared in competitive play where a pokemon COULD damage a benched, i'd play smarter and outplay it.

    my t/s/s great differed,

    i personally run 2 bebe's and 2 comm.
    4 pokedrawer +
    4 pokedex handy
    2 super scoop ups(for the uxie re-use)
and 1 prof oaks new theory(hand refresh)
everything else here is the same.

i run 3 DCE and 6 lightning, afraid to cut it down to 5.

this deck suffers against T1 set up decks, in my area i face gengar, kingdra, and my close friend plays a beautifly donk that works amazingly since my pokemon all have resistance.
if the foe doesn't use powers, this deck doesn't work well and has to rely on brute power to beat down other pokemon, and even with 1 lightning and 1 DCE, it's a T2 attack, and decks like i've mentioned are all T1. slowing down these decks is a fantastic way to gain an edge, spiritomb and mr.mime as great for that, if you can't outspeed, then you should slow them down.

however there is no doubt that once this deck is set up, it's very hard to stop it, something constantly happens, the importance of slowing the game down and setting up quicker is essential for this deck to come out on top, and it's perfectly capable of being. it isn't a world's championship winning deck idea but a fun and strong deck regardless and i greatly enjoy playing it.

  • bittyboy52/72

I know it's a little late but I just realized to power lock quickly you can play Gallade 4 Lv.X! You can use it's “Blade Strom” Poke-Power to place 10 on every thing then retreat or Poketurn it! I can't believe I didn't think of that before!

  • Mantidactyle

I really do not like the Ampharos Prime in this deck.

He basically waste a space, in a metagame where so few Energies are played, and with an not-so-good attack.

I'd just play 2 SW – 2 PL, it adds consistency.
