Mankey Business - The One Hit Wonder

Mankey Business - The One Hit Wonder

A guy I know at league has been playing a Darkrai Lv.X deck that I keep losing to. Unwilling to totally scrap the deck that I have been playing, I went looking for a tech. And that’s when I came upon Mankey SV. For 1 Fighting Energy he can hit Level Xs for 60 damage. But it gets better. Darkrai Lv.X has a x2 weakness to Fighting, effectively giving Mankey a OHKO against my arch nemesis Darkrai.

So here’s the plan. Because it only takes 1 …

Card of the Day: The Unbeatable Wall - Shedinja Lv. 40 (Supreme Victors)

Card of the Day: The Unbeatable Wall - Shedinja Supreme Victors SV 44

You may have encountered one before, from Mysterious Treasures – Mr. Mime, whose PokeBody “Airy Wall” can defend itself against damage from Pokemon with one or two energy attached to it.  Even better, this Pokemon would require a Mime Jr. underneath to get Unown G-like effect, thus it is amazing in matchups like Gyarados, Beedrill and Kingdra.

In this one, Shedinja is another amazing wall that have similiar defensive type as Mr. Mime, however – it’s “Marvel Shell” PokeBody would block any of your Opponent’s Pokemon …

Garchomp C LV.X Supreme Victors SV 145 - Card of the Day

Garchomp C LV.X Supreme Victors SV 145 - Card of the Day

This is in my opinion one of the gnarliest Pokemon cards that came out in Supreme Victors. It’s attack and Pokemon Power are both just killer. “Dragon Rush” can take out Claydols and will snag you a prize nearly every time you use the attack. “Healing Breath” heals all your SP Pokemon in play, which again is awesome.

The best combo utilizing Garchomp C LV.X involves Luxray GL LV.X and Bronzong G PL. First, you want to make sure you have a …

Garchomp Supreme Victors SV 5 - Card of the Day

Garchomp Supreme Victors SV 5 - Card of the Day

I have seen this Pokemon card being used a notable amount at Battle Roads, even though I never really considered it to be a legitimate option when it was released. However, after seeing it being used a few different ways, I think that Garchomp may be a playable card.

The main draw to this Pokemon is “Speed Impact”. 120 damage for 3 Energy is pretty gnarly, even though though this damage can be limited. Its “Dragon Intimidation” Pokemon Body aids the attack, but …

Pokemon Card of the Day - Absol G Lv.X Supreme Victors SV 141

Pokemon Card of the Day - Absol G Lv.X Supreme Victors SV 141

This is my first article ever written for any kind of site. I hope that this satisfies the readers.

When I first looked through the Platinum: Supreme Victors set I first looked at what new Lv.X’s we were going to get. When scanning through them I noticed Absol G Lv.X. The were a few reasons I liked this Pokemon card. One, Absol is one of my favorite Pokemon, but aside from that, it was the Poke-Power “Darkness Send” that caught my attention.

I know it looks a …

Metagross Supreme Victors SV 7 – Card of the Day

Metagross Supreme Victors SV 7 - Card of the Day

Metagross from Supreme Victors has one of the most punishing Poke-Bodies in the Pokemon Trading Card Game. “Gravitation” makes all Pokemon on the field have 20 less HP, which in theory puts most things in range for a one hit knock out. You want to be careful when placing Metagross onto the field because if it’s played at the wrong time, your opponent can easily take control of the game.

The trick is to evolve into Metagross when you know your Pokemon can get a …

Relicanth Supreme Victors SV 79 – Card of the Day

Relicanth Supreme Victors SV 79 - Card of the Day

Pokémon Tools have been staples in many decks since they were first introduced to the game, back in Neo Genesis. Gold Berry, Focus Band, Memory Berry, Cessation Crystal, and most recently TGI Energy Gain and Unown’s G and Q. Relicanth SV provides a good counter card against all the popular Pokemon Tools in the current format.

This card works exceptionally well in Gengar / Machamp decks, as their main attacks are neutralized by Unown G’s, but Relicanth is able to take advantage of the Pokemon who …

Staraptor FB Lv.X Supreme Victors SV 147 - Card of the Day

Staraptor FB Lv.X Supreme Victors SV 147 - Card of the Day

Staraptor seems like it can be a decent option to replace Claydol GE in decks, at least for newer players that are not able to get the expensive staple and given the increase Lv.X’s ratio in the Platinum: Supreme Victors set.

I think this card definitely has a future in SP decks though. Being able to guarantee a Cyrus every turn? Reliably use Flint’s Willpower when you need it and maybe even surprise your opponent with it? The possibility to guarantee Lucian’s Assignment the turn you …

Honchkrow Supreme Victors SV #29 – Card of the Day

Honchkrow Supreme Victors SV #29 - Card of the Day

Cards that allow you to disrupt your opponent are always very attractive strategies for competitive players. Honchkrow SV has a very unique Poke-Power, where it can return an opponent’s Basic Pokemon into play with its “Darkness Restore” Poke-Power. This combos greatly with it’s only attack: “Riot”, as it does 30 damage + 10 more damage for every unevolved Pokemon in play (both yours and your opponent’s).

There are several cards that compliment Honchkrow SV, such as Dusknoir DP and Honchkrow Lv.X. A deck based around these …

Float On: Drifblim FB

Float On: Drifblim FB

I’ve been a big fan of specialization in the Pokemon TCG, and I love when a certain Pokemon finds its own little niche in the card game. For example, look at Cherrim. This little flowery thing has become a grass/fire tech in any deck, with either +10 to attacks or -10 to taken damage.

The same is true for Drifblim. It has a slew of variations that specialize in setting up and/or recovery of the discard pile, though not many have really used …
