When translations of Rapidash were first released, it received a fair amount of attention because of its Poke-Body, “Wild Guard”, which makes Rapidash immune to all effects of attacks, including damage, done to it by your opponent’s Pokemon SP. However, there were (and still are) two things working against it.
The first problem is Dialga G LV.X (an SP Pokemon) shuts off Rapidash, making its so-called “SP auto-win” anything but. The other problem lies in Rapidash, its attacks aren’t good. “Fire Mane” does a vanilla 20 for R and “Rising Lunge” for RCC does 50 and a coin flip. If heads, it does an extra 20 damage.
Even if you were to play against a non-Dialga G SP deck (which is more uncommon than you think, especially in VileGar-heavy formats), its attacks aren’t anywhere strong enough to take the match. Heck, your opponent will most likely be able to knock out a Rapidash with Uxie LV.X.
If this card were to print a new Rapidash with stats something like: 110 HP, Fire, x2 Water Weakness, -20 Fighting Resistance (one can dream), Retreat Cost 0 along with the “Wild Guard” Poke-Body and one or two really solid attacks, you’d be on to something.
Until then, Rapidash is just a card that’s inferior to Mewtwo LV.X (which not only blocks all SP Pokemon not named Dialga G LV.X, but all other Basic Pokemon(such as Regigigas) as well).
My Recommendation: Mewtwo LV.X is superior to this card in almost every way (I only say almost to be politically correct)
My Rating: 2.25/5 (Easily counter-able, it can’t hold a candle to Mewtwo LV.X)
