Introduction
Hey SixPrizes nation! Welcome to my first ever Card of the Day. Today I’ll be talking about Gothitelle from Emerging Powers. I’m going to talk about possible combos and strengths, and then talk about my personal favorite partner and provide an analysis on the deck. I hope you enjoy my first ever Pro’s Pick!
Gothitelle’s Possible Partners
Gothitelle could work with lots of things, such as slower decks because you can just throw a Gothitelle out and then stall while you set the slower Pokemon. Once they’re set up, you can retreat or use a Switch and put out your slower Pokemon.
For instance, Gothitelle might work with Steelix Prime. You can get all the energies on the Steelix and then wreck using Potions to heal the Steelix. This might be a little clunky, but you’d have to test and see. Another option would be maybe Magnezone Prime.
You could play something like three Pachirisu and four Magnezone. Put our the Gothitelle early game, and then get rolling with Magnezone and sweep the field. All these are rogue ideas, but might have some potential.
Another is Ferrothorn Emerging Powers #72. Ferrothorn has a CurseGar-like attack. It does sixty for a Double Colorless and a Metal. Then you switch with one of your bench, which could be none other than Gothitelle. I know a ton of people will love this idea for liking CurseGar back in the day. I think that might have some potential, but with Magnezone Primes resistance, I don’t know. There’s a lot of nice deck ideas so try them out and see how they work.
Good Points on Gothitelle
- It’s a Stage Two and can easily set up with the help of Rare Candy
- Its Ability Trainer-locks your opponent with the plus of you still be allowed to play Trainers
- You can use a Dodrio, Switch, or Double Colorless to retreat
- High HP of 130
- Weakness to Psychic which isn’t too poplular
What is my favorite Gothitelle deck?
Gothitelle/Reuniclus
Analysis
Gothitelle/Reuniclus has awesome synergy to start off with. Gothitelle is what your going to be attacking with most of the game and you’ll be locking your opponent with it too. Once your opponent puts damage on your Gothitelle, you can Damage Swap it to a dragon: Reshiram or Zekrom. That’ll build up their Outrage attacks and heal you Gothitelle. The synergy is very clear cut.
What you’ll need in a good deck list is very good consistency. If you won’t be able to set up the combo, you’ll have a hard game. The combo should be fairly easy to set up if you play four Rare Candy, four Communication, and if you want even better consistency, two to four Great Ball. If you can fit all that into your list, you’ll be able to get out the combo very fast.
From there you’ll be able to wreck you opponent with healing and Trainer lock. They’ll struggle to set up, and you’ll keep attacking until you knock out everything. If they manage to knock out your Gothitelle, you can bring out Reshiram or Zekrom to knock them out with very high damage because of Damage Swapping. I think the deck will be very good and expect a few at some of your tournaments.
