Expert Belt: Card of the Day

To begin this article, I would like to introduce myself because this is my first official article for SixPrizes.com. My name is Michal “Charlie“ Bartosik and I am from Czech Republic. I have played the Pokemon TCG for 8 years and have won many tournaments in our country, but I never our Nationals.

Now I would like to start talking about card that I chose – Expert Belt from Advance of Arceus.

Expert Belt Arceus AR 87In my opinion is Expert Belt the best card from AoA. Expert Belt adds +20 damage to your attacks and gives you +20 HP. This is not for free, because this card makes the Pokemon that has Expert Belt has attached to it something like Pokemon EX – if your opponent knock out your belted Pokemon, they can take one additional prize. I think that this disadvantage fully balances the card and does not make the card imbalanced. This card makes a lot of interesting attacks really potent weapons that you can use now.

When I saw this card on a first glace I remembered Cresselia LV.X from Great Encounters and its very nice attack “Moon Skip“ that allows you to take extra prize card if you knock out your opponents Pokemon. In my strategy with Expert Belt I think that Luxray GL LV.X can be very helpful. You can Level it up and use its “Bright Look“ Poke-Power to take active one of your opponents weak Pokemon and KO it with “Moon Skip“ for 2 prizes immediately.

If your opponent is careless and puts their Expert Belt on one of their weak, low hit pointed Pokemon (for example because he will want to draw more cards for “Set Up“ or “Cosmic Power“) you can bring it active, use Bronzong’s G Poke-Power “Galactic Switch“ and re-attach energy card from Luxray GL. LV.X to your Cresselia LV.X (and you can already use “Full Moon Dance“ to move one of Bronzong’s damage counter to one of your opponents Pokemon) and go for 3 prizes KO! This is in my opinion a very nice strategy, to win fast or take a huge prizes lead over your opponent.

Cresselia LV.X Great Encounters GE 103On the other side, you can play Expert Belt with many Stage 2 Pokemons like Rampardos from Mysterious Treasures (100 damage for 1 energy cards and 150 hit points is great even if your opponent can take extra prize for KO this Pokemon). Kingdra from Legends Awakened to is not bad candidate. Gardevoir’s “Psychic Lock“ with base damage 80 to is not look like bad choice (and with the release of Double Colorless Energy in next set it will set up a huge Plox comeback). I personally will be testing straight Nidoqueen Rising Rivals with Ampharos with Platinum and 4 Poke Healer + with 4 Expert Belt of course.

From Stage 1 Pokemons I like Blissey Mysterious Treasures, which will have 150 HP and its attack base damage will be 40+ number of attached energy cards to it. And one of the most interesting ideas for my is that you can attach Expert Belt to your Claydol and go for one hit knock out to Luxray GL LV.X and next turn you can Warp Point / Switch it back onto a bench.

Now I would like to talk about SP deck that gotta have a huge decision before it – Will they play Expert Belt or still play 4 Energy Gains?

I think that with release of Double Colorless Energy they will play more Expert Belts and only few Energy Gains as tech cards for situation speed up. The best part of Expert Belt is that if you bring to active your opponents Claydol via Bright Look you can easily attach second energy and Expert Belt for easy prize and strategical lead. You can play in all SP deck Mewtwo LV.X counter – Mismagius from Stormfront edition and you can easily discard Expert Belts from your damaged Pokemon to prevent your opponent from taking extra prize for its KO.

I think that Expert Belt has many possibilities to be played with many cards about I didn’t write here and I will like to see some you your tips in comments.

    On topic, your strategy with Luxray GL Lv.X and Cresselia Lv.X is interesting, but there is really no way to make them attach an Expert Belt from their hand, except for the case you mentioned, which is a bit unlikely, if you ask me. If it works, though, you get three prizes, which I’ve only drawn as part of a penalty, so that’s a pretty impressive feat. :)
    As for the argument with Expert Belt in an SP deck, there are many different facets. Luxray hardly needs Energy Gain and could probably do better with Expert Belt, but there is one major downfall: Cyrus’s Conspiracy (PL) can search out Energy Gain still, but Expert Belt is unable to be searched like this. Of course, you could always play the new Department Girl Supporter to get Expert Belt, but you won’t be able to search for your usual Energy and other Supporter. In my opinion, only time and plenty of testing will be able to tell us whether or not it is worth it.

    I think Expert Belt is one of the best cards from Arceus too.

    I do have questions about how long a pokemon can survive with it on there. With Lucario/ Lake Boundary in the format, even 150HP Kingdras can be taken out by a Crobat G + Trash Bolt from Luxray GL w/ a Lucario GL in play for the easy 2 prizes. Even 140HP Gardevior can be taken out by a psychic pokemon doing 70 with Lucario GL in play. Also any of these KOs are made easier by the opponent use Expert Belt themselves for the +20 damage, making Kingdra KO’d by an attack of 60 base, and Gardevior KO’d by an attack of 50 base.

    Then we have a new block starting with HGSS where all pokemon have 2x weakness built in. Those pokemon may have +10 or +20 HP but they will not survive that long.

    On the topic of SP decks running it, they better keep running Unown Gs because Machamp is still a great card and isn’t losing any potential in a format field with basics, and will only see more use if all those basics stop running Unown Gs.

    put expert belt on the new Raticate.
    it’s a stage one that will have 90 HP but it can do the 80 like Kingdra without discarding cards.
    also it’s colorless,
    so it’s going to run train on Flygon.
    Also play in with a strong Uxie line so the Machamp match wont be so difficult.

    Also, with as much as im looking forward to DCE in gardy.
    Last time gardy was the BDIF we didnt have that could OTK and gengars and nidoqueens.
    When DCE comes out,
    Nidoqueen with Azelf.
    Now powers and no weakness.
    whats it going to beat to.

      90HP isn’t going to stand up to much, especially anything else using Expert Belt.

      I really feel like Stage 1s have got the hose this season (and possibly last season). Their HP is lacking. Even with Expert Belt, they can’t match standard Stage 2 HP and definitely can’t match Stage 2 + Expert Belt HP. They lack the speed of the SP basics, them being basic and being able to abuse Energy Gain.

      They really have the worst of both worlds. I remember back in the day of tech’d stage 1s and decks based soley on stage 1s, and well…I don’t see that day coming around anytime soon.

      i agree with jesus.96 the new raticate “Extend Fang” allows it to do 20+40 if there is a pokemon tool attach to raticate and with expert belt’s effect it’ll do 80 dmg with only 1 energy

    I agreed that Expert Belt is the best card in the set.
    But I don’t think Cresselia will ever be good again, Expert belt shall be played with Stage 2 or Stage 1(Gyarados or Blissey)

    Cresselia Lv.X with Gengar of AoA (Curse- Move one of your opponents damage to another of their pokemon.) That’s 2 damage a turn you are moving and you can use crobat for more. *_*

    Expert Belt rules…
    I was thinking about adding it to my Rampardos deck. The Rampardos from Pt can do a solid 80 base damage from Head Smash. Expert Belt would make it even more dangerous, and would help it survive more hits from the opponent.
    An extra 20 damage can break through any resistances from your opponents’ pokemon since only -20 exists.

        But, if you have some other a deck that might have issues with resistance, you could add Expert Belt to compensate for that.

    You forgot to mention the perfect combo for expert belt.

    Mismagius Gl lv.x. He has a pokepower that lets you pick up tms and tools and put them back in your hand. I think that card will become really hot really soon.

    Now I would like to say something to my article :
    1.) I forget to Gyarados in my Stage 1 pkmns – so huge mistake !

    I find Expert Belt to be a great card in Salamence decks as well as in Kingdra. Easily the best card in the set by a long way.

    I came across this little guy while doing research for a deck idea: Aipom MT. He has a 2C attack “Throw Off”
    Choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon. This attack does 20 damage to that Pokemon (Don’t apply Weakness or Resistance for Benched Pokemon). Before doing damage, discard all Pokemon Tool cards attached to that Pokemon.

    This might be a good tech against Expert Belt. He’s Colourless so there’s no need to worry about Energy. 2C is a little expensive but with Double Colourless coming out that should minimize this factor. He can also evolve into Ambipom MT who does 80 damage for 2C unless the opponent discards two cards (in which case it is only 10 damage).

    i like this card for a 2 simple reasons.

    1) i boosts your health by 20 so you can last longer.

    2) pure power. gives a 20 damage boost right when you need it to knock out a tough pokemon there and now!

      Not really… it’s just another card. It’s good, but the meta was not affected by it too much, although it did allow Dialga G to see more play by increasing damage output with Deafen. Spiritomb was the biggest meta-changer. Now everyone’s running Warp Energy to escape the Glisctomb trap, and it brought about a few new decks.

    Butterfree ge is really annoying with this card. 50 for 1 and heal 50 on any of your pokemon. Free retreat as well. if you get two out it is so annoying.

    If you have a normal arch then I’d go with Asics or Saucony. I prefer Saucony running shoes over any other kind. They are cushioned and last a long time

    You shouldn’t have any cosmetic surgery at all while hypothyroid. Even necessary surgery should be postponed if you can. Only if it’s absolutely necessary, and can’t be put off, would I go ahead.

    It will take as long as the doc says. Wear the rubber bands, day and night…do not double up. And you are just going to have to deal…it will be worth it in the end. As for a retainer, once you get one you will probably have to wear it for several years… though usually only at night. Good Luck

    Killing most bacteria is not too hard–just make sure you get your food up to 165 degrees F–an all through the food, not just some spots. There are two problems with this. I know this isn’t what you wanted to hear, but those bacteria are sneaky little guys.

    It depends on what kbps the songs are already in. Usually, anything less than 96 kbps will obviously not sound all that great even though the files will be smaller.     I’m a sewing machine technician and will tell you DO NOT get a cheap plastic machine from Wal-Mart or wherever. The old machines are the best. Or look in thrift stores or yard sales and find an old one for cheap. If you turn the handle and the needle goes up and down and try the motor and it works then spend a little more and have the repair guy service it (yellow pages). Clean, oil, and adjust. I’m sure you can do all this for under 200 dollars. The old all metal heavy machines with just basic stitch patterns are all you need and they will last you forever.
