It is a gengar counter yes, but it is better for disruption

The better use is for using Lost World and chatot G to win the game.

      Two Things

I’m not sure how effective that combo will be because you’ll need an unsearchable (apart from like 2 cards) stadium.

Absol can be Power Sprayed. If that deck becomes really big, I bet SP players will up their Power Sprays to 3-4 for sure.

IMO, it’s best use is as a Gengar counter.

Honchkrow G to search stadiums. SolGar is coming….

Cool, I like this card, it may gain more popularity after Lost World comes out.

Im planning on trying absol and gengar together. With chatot g, turns and hunter to reuse disrupting spy and darkness send.

Great COTD! I’ve been testing different decks out using Absol G Lv. X.

      I try :P

Curious as to why it was called a “Poor Man’s Luxray GL LvX”? I can see certain similarities, coming into play power and 60 attack with a downside, but otherwise I am not sure of the comparison. Is it because they can both be viewed techs (though not as splashable..and Absol G LvX seems to need a deck to be based on it)?Yeah, it seems like it would be better for disruption because you would have to hit the Chatot G/Lost World angle just right for it to work as a game winning condition….you use Disrupting Spy and hope you find some Pokemon to put on top of the deck and then, with more luck flip 3 coins to hopefully Darkness Send some of those Pokemon, if any, into the Lost Zone, and repeat til you get 6 Pokemon into the Lost Zone. You certainly would want to max out on PokeTurns, Super Scoop Ups, Aaron’s Collection, Premier Balls (as well as Hunters, Twins and Junk Arms) so that you could reuse Absol G LvX (and maybe to a lesser extent Chatot G) as much as possible. The scary part for disruption is that when you use Chatot G you would want to put the cards that would be most useful for your opponent on top of the deck. Knowing my luck I would spy 2 really useful cards out of the 4, put only one of them on top in case I didn’t flip at least 2 heads, then flip 3 heads (or 0 heads) leaving a really useful one for my to top-deck on his/her next turn. Also, if you are going to use it in a Gengar deck, you might consider Slowking instead of Chatot G. Though Slowking only lets you manipulate 3 cards and is a Stage 1, once it is set up it can be used each turn (unless affected by special condition). You could then save your PokeTurns, etc. solely for the Absol G LvX. Just a random thought.

The Slowking may not be a bad idea. I think the reason it was called poor mans Luxray was because they’re both SP Lv.Xs that can hit for 60 and have a coming into play pokepower.

Also, if you wanted to build a LuxChomp, but couldn’t afford or don’t have Luxray, some players would use Absol.

I will be surprised if Lost World hits and those deck runners AREN’T running a full line of this guy and 4 poke turns. You can win the game in one turn using these guys, and the new gengar. It’s almost like “Flip 3 coins, for each heads, draw a prize” assuming you use a method of arranging the opponents top deck. Personally I really like this guy, I’m a little sad I traded them away a while ago. If I had known about lost world I’d have kept hold of em lol.

Absol G Lv. X is actually going to be a great tech in Sablelock for cities in my opinion. Since the deck usually runs 5-6 Dark Energies already (Special and Basic included), a 1-1 line will be devastating against VileGar decks as well as Lost World decks.

Simply use Judge to either clear your hand of T/S/S (against VileGar) or of Pokemon (against Lost World decks). Not only that, but every Gengar is weak to Dark, thus you can hit Gengar SF for 90 with Darkness Slugger and Psychic Restore next turn, or you can hit Gengar UD for 120 (thanks to x2 weakness) and then drop the Flash Bite for the OHKO.

Definitely a great card in Sablelock, possibly even a 1-1 line and a Dark Energy in LuxChomp will prove viable. Only playtesting and time will tell.

i find absol will be better in luxchomp due to lucario GL being played more in luxchomp. This way, getting rid of any gengar is a flashbite away

as a gengar counter, umbreon is faster and better IMO. The damage output isnt bad due to the weakness, you will be hitting 60~70 for 1 dark energy, 70 if special. a bonust ist he fact that nothing in Vilegar can attack Umbreon.

This card has potential when used in the right situation. I ran a deck with this card and Garchomp C Lv.X for Champaign battle roads, and finished 2-3. Taking into consideration that I’m a player that has just recently returned to the game (in the past 2 months) and that I didn’t have the cards to build an optimal AbsolChomp list (no uxie X or promocroak, just to name a few), I think this card could compete with a well built deck, but would only win tournaments in the case that it’s a tech. I also experimented with an ABC deck (AbsolBlazeChomp), but it was playing weak late-game and I abandoned that idea.

I have been the only person in southern ca playing this pokemon. I have tried playing it with garchomp, luxray, and dialga, even houndoom prime. None of these seem to complement the speed and disruption but I think the gengar prime might change all .

The sable lock start followed by T2 lost zone milling rotations then the gengar prime hand reduction closing with the honchkrow g for stadiums.

    Sounds good on paper.

I’ve been on this card since last cities…

so much fun to play, unfortunately base form suckkkkkks
I’ve tried it with everything, other SPs, Gyarados, Slowking, you name it…

I concur with those saying that this is, at the very least, an entertaining tech in Sablelock. I like the idea of being able to hit for 60 by discarding unnecessary Sableyes mid-game. In fact… I’m going to go build this right now!
