Aaron’s Collection (Rising Rivals RR 88) – Card of the Day

For today’s review, I’ll be taking a look at Aaron’s Collection, which was released back in Rising Rivals. If Aaron’s Collection wants to see play, it will need to have a pretty good effect as there are a lot of powerful Supporters in the format.

When you play this card, it allows you to return up to 2 in any combination of Basic Energy cards and SP Pokemon in your discard pile and add them to your hand. Since this card is obviously meant to be played as a recovery-type card in SP decks. Being a Supporter card, it can easily be searched for by Cyrus’s Conspiracy.

Last season, most LuxChomp decks ran 1 Aaron’s Collection along with 1-2 Copies of Night Maintenance and/or Premier Ball. Since NM is out of the format, in order to have strong recovery, most lists are forced to up the Aaron’s Collection count to 2 or add in a few Premier Balls.

Having a way to consistently recover Pokemon is very important in today’s super-fast format, especially if you run a 2-1 or 3-1 line of an SP LV.X, you’re going to need a way to get those Level Ups back.

My Recommendation: Along with Palmer’s Contribution and the rarely played Flower Shop Girl, it’s the best Recovery Supporters in the format. I don’t know if there’s a single SP deck that couldn’t benefit from running a copy of this card.

      Personally, I prefer to go with 1 Aaron’s, 1-2 Premier Ball and perhaps 1 VS Seeker in LuxChomp, but that’s probably because I run 3-1 and 2-1 lines, so recovering those Level Ups is more essential than with 2-2 lines.

        Yeah, I do run a 1-1 DGX line as well as a copy of Twins.

        actually, i play 3-1 and 2-1 lines too, but i dont like premier ball at all, so i run 2 aarons. Vs seeker is nice and all, but as premier ball, its poltergeist fuel.

    Depends on your metagame. I know my metagame is rather VileGar-heavy, so I’d run the two Aaron’s and a Premier Ball. Otherwise, an Aaron’s, a VS Seeker, and a Premier Ball (or two) would be a good idea.
