Raichu LV.X Stormfront SF 99 – Card of the Day

Raichu LV.X Stormfront SF 99 Pokemon CardRaichu LV.X has been horribly underestimated in my opinion when it was first released in the Stormfront set. When it came out most people were making Gengar and Machamp decks. But this card should be recognized for having one of the most outstanding Poké-Powers of all time!

Raichu LV.X’s Power is called “Link Lightning” which allows you to use two attacks in one turn after Leveling Up Raichu and using Raichu LV.X’s attack “Voltage Shoot.” The attack “Voltage Shoot” will cause 80 damage to one of your opponent’s Pokémon in play, without applying weakness or resistance. That can Knock Out a Claydol, Uxie, Mespirit, Azelf or most tech Pokémon your opponent may have in play with just one hit but with the down fall of having to discard 2 Electric Energy Cards from your hand. Although that’s not too bad considering you can easily get those 2 Electric Energy Cards by using the Supporter Card “Roseanne’s Research” or by using Brozong’s SF Poké-Power “Cycler.”

Bronzong Stormfront SF 13 Pokemon CardThe second attack you choose to use depends on what Raichu you have in play. Personally my favorite Raichu to use is Raichu SF because it can use the attack “Burst Ball” that will cause a descent 100 damage to your opponent’s active Pokémon(or 120 damage if you attach the Pokémon tool “Expert Belt” which will be released in the Advent of Arceus set on November 4). The downfall to using “Burst Ball” however causes you to discard a total of 3 Energy Cards attached to your Pokémon. But you can easily avoid having to struggle with running low or out of Energy Cards by starting with Electivire FB LV.X as your lead in the beginning of the game.

Electivire FB LV.X Supreme Victors SV 144 Pokemon CardBy having Electivire FB LV.X as your lead you can prepare a few Raichu on your Bench by using Electivire FB LV.X’s Poké-Power “Energy Recycle”. The Power “Energy Recycle” allows you to search your deck for up to a combination of 3 basic energy cards and attach them to your Pokémon in any way you like. That can power up a Raichu/Raichu LV.X in only one turn! Then once you are done preparing your Raichu for battle you can either let Electivire FB LV.X get Knocked Out or have it return to your bench by using the Trainer Card(s) “Warp Point”/”Switch”.

So overall Raichu LV.X can be a sniper ready to kill on your opponent’s bench or a power house ready to take out your opponent’s active Pokémon.

It should be noted that “Link Lightning” is a PokeBody, and not a PokePower.
Also, you may want to correct your description of Electivire FB’s power “Energy Recycle,” as it attaches energy from the discard pile and not the deck.

It may be interesting to test Elevtivire SW with this. Using Raichu SF’s attack to discard energy from the Electivires.

You would think it would be easy to maintain lightning energies in your hand to discard…that’s not the case. If you’re trying to fit all of Raichu, Electivire Lv. X, AND Bronzong, it will be terribly slow. Also, Raichu is easily killed by both Toxicroak G and Mankey.

Not to be a downer, but Raichu Lv. X is much harder to use than it seems. I tried to make a good list right when it came out, and it was difficult to get going. With a few new cards to help it may be a bit better, but there are many factors against it.

You were talking about Toxicroak and Mankey which is referring to the weakness but there is Sunyshore City Gym! No weakness and no resistance!

Three Raichu’s here to determine (there are more but these are the best)-

SV Raichu: 2L/1C – Gigashock: 60 plus 10 to 2 bench pkmn (to finish off a 90 pokemon you just sniped)

+Most recommended+ MT Raichu: NO energy – Electromagnetic Induction: 2 energy from discard to ANY pokemon. (Put on another Raichu or power this one. Electivire’s dump helps to speed this up if you start with him too.)

1L/1C – Explosive Thunder: 30 times the energy on Raichu. (Use this only after using the LvX to snipe bench and hit for 60 or 90 for 3 energy.)

SF Raichu: No energy – Slice: 30 one use (for desperate times.

3C – Split Ball: 50 and move an energy back (to another Raichu or Electivire?)

2L/1C – Burst Ball: 100 for discard of three not having to be Raichu. ( The underline is the key.)

AA Raichu: 1L – Strong Current: 20 damage. If Raichu has a Pokemon Tool attached to it, this attack also does 20 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon that isn’t Evolved. (good against sp decks)

1L/2C – Thunder Blast: 70 damage. Discard 1 Lightning Energy attached to Raichu. (Would help Electivire…)

When double c comes out, this could all me ugly. What you want is fact energy call. If you have Uxie drawing, Brozong for your energy, and flint’s would help Electivire speed up so you use his energy for Raichu. Super Scoop Raichu as much as you can to repeat.

If you can find the speed and energy gathering, this could be ugly.

One little thing: Electivire LvX’s Poke-Power Energy Recycle lets you attach those energies from the discard pile and not via searching your deck; so it would take one more process to get this decks engine running getting those 3 energy in the discard pile first. And I suppose that Mankey SV and Promocroak G would be a force to be reckoned with, so it would be a best idea to run a 1-1 Exploud SV line or pack some Sunnyshore City Gym. I can definately imagine this being made into a mini-SP engine and at least tossing in 2x Crobat G PL and 4x PokeTurns to do the finishing touches on pokemon that have higher HP than 80 after attacking with Voltage Shoot. Altogether, I agree that Raichu LvX is indeed an underestimated card, and would love to see someone test a deck or maybe post a decklist and note the results and statistical average of how it fared against some of the metagames top tier decks! =D

Umm i have tested raichu and it just didn’t cut it for me. I like the card but it required a lot of energies in the deck which would slow you down in this format.

you have to get raichu x asap to be successful. i would play the mt one because you can get a t2/t3 rauchu x.

Besides i would play some devoluter because of gengar.

i also think that a starter is needed. sableye sf is the best choice imo

Although I don’t have a wealth of experience with this deck/card, I would also recommend running the MT Raichu.

My brother built this when Stormfront came out and just seemed to have problems. It was inconsistent, but when it worked, it worked wonders. Play Devoluter, along with Raichu MT. A starter isn’t a bad idea, and I’m not sure what else in the format can really benefit it with the releases of Platinum, Rising Rivals and Supreme Victors, or even Arceus

I finally made what I think is a pretty solid Raichu deck. I wanted to see what others thought. Its based around reusing energies from deck and discard so your almost never out of energy and your putting at least 2 almost every turn. Check it out……..

Minun and Plusle are som great starters for the deck especially with 60 HP each, not bad for basics. Minun is mainly used for it’s no cost energy Call for Family, this helps get at least 2 Pikachus out by turn two. He also has Trash charge for 1 lightning energy, which allows you to search your discard for a lightning energy and attach it to 1 or your pokemon. Plusle also has a no cost energy attack, Greedy Draw is great to get the Raichu’s or other pokemon to get them. Greedy Draw allows you to draw until you have 1 more card in your hand than your opponent, though if you have more it won’t work. Now worries because he also has a 1 lightning energy attack “Hand Charge”, attaching 1 lightning energy from your hand to one of your pokemon.
One of the great things about Pikachu’s and Raichu’s is that it’s 1 evolution with tremendous damage. Raichu SF has a no cost Slice attack for 30dmg!! Whoa! Can’t use it next turn but you’ll have 3 energies on him next turn if done right. 3 colorless for Split Ball is 50dmg and you can move an energy from Raichu to another of your pokemon. Raichu DP21 promo is awesome as well, its not cost attack “Electromagnetic Induction” grabs 2 lighting energy from your deck and attach them to 1 of your pokemon. His other attack is massive, Explosive Thunder for 1 lightning and 1 colorless energy, 30x the amount of lightning energy discarded, which has to be all of them. So if you have 6 energies on him that’s 180dmg, even enough to knockout Machamp Lv X. Its very easy to get that many energies on him too.
The best part of the deck is Electivire lv X, all the energies that you have been discarding can now be put back on pokemon in any way you like (up to 3). Leave him out as a tank and let him take the damage, you should have a lv x Raichu by now and get a Raichu pumped up. Now with Lv X Raichu you always need to remember to keep at least 2 lightning energy in your hand, so when you do Voltage Shoot you can then do another attack. I like to put Raichu SF under Lv X Raichu, because once I do Voltage Shoot I can then do Burst Ball from Raichu SF for 100dmg to the active, by discarding 3 energy anyway and from any pokemon I want. I usually pick a benched pokemon to Voltage Shoot and knock out the Claydol, Uxie, Azelf, or even a possible Machoke (if i want to know out something that has 90 to 100hp i add the plus powers) then I blast the active for 100dmg.
Everyone knows why Claydol and Uxie are in the deck so I won’t go into detail with it, but the other most important Pokemon in the deck is the “Togekiss”. He has a power “Serene Grace” which allows you to take the “10” top cards of your deck and any energy there you get to attach to your pokemon in any way you like. Talk about fast dmg!!
If your lv X gets knocked or you need more energy for the Serene Grace then you night maintenance the Lv X and energies you need, you can also Super Scoop Up the Togekiss to use the power again.
Well this is my first post EVER!!! in any Pokemon forum. So let me know what yall think and what changes you think could help. Thanks
P.S. Sixprizes website is amazing in every way! The way you can click on a card and it zooms in, is in itself amazing and great! Great strategy for anyone and highly recommended site.
One suggestion is to create a search bar for those (like myself) who want to search for certain cards or decks. Thanks

      Hi fluramba,

It’s a good list with a well thought out explanation for why every card is in there. You might want to consider adding in a couple of Premier Balls to get the Level X’s out of your discard pile when they are knocked out (or to get them from your deck when you need them). Your opponent can use Roseanne’s Research to get a Mankey SV and Fighting Energy, switch or retreat their active Pokemon and OHKO your Level Xs. There is not really a way to guard against that so you will need to be able to recover quickly when/if it happens.

Thanks for the compliments, I was thinking of premier ball and I just might do that. As for the Mankey or even a Toxicroak GL promo would knock me out to. So I might put an Exploud in the deck for bench power no weakness for any of my pokemon.
Ok so I traded out 2 Team Galactic mars for 2 Premier Balls, also took out 1 energy, 1 scoop up and 1 bebe’s search to add whismur, loudred & exploud. So I should be able to get Lv X’s out quicker and not worry about weakness from fighting at all! (^_^)

Hiya, I was reading one more issue about this on one more blog. Interesting. Your perspective on it’s diametrically contradicted from what I read earlier. I’m still pondering of the opposite things of view, but I’m leaning to a excellent extent toward yours. And irrespective, that is what’s so perfect about contemporary democracy as well as the market of ideas online.
